So I'm in Phnom Penh for a week, or a month or however long I stay.
Staying down by the river. I took a walk up to Street 51 last night as I heard this was where the main night life was.
It seemed pretty dead on the outside.
Had a look in Walkabout and... it didn't look like much. Wasn't what I was expecting.
Went in to Heart of Darkness. Stayed for a few beers... it seemed to be a gay bar though with some backpackers. Decent enough inside but not quite what I was expecting.
So is this normal or am I missing the good places?

Slow down. This is Cambodia. Discover it yourself, don't do a guidebook, or follow someone else's recommendation.
As this is my recommendation, you are under no obligation to follow it.
Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.

It's also the New Year holiday this week. Many staff and Khmer party-goers are out of town.

I was thinking about mentioning New Years, but I honestly didn't know what sort of impact that has on the inner city nightlife. Thanks Andy. BTW. Will probably be in town toward the end of the month or start of May. Let me know if you are around. Catch up for a beer or something.

Now that would be magic.

Garage Bar, especially when they alternate barmaids on public holidays
People who steal from banks get jail. Banks who steal from people get bonuses. You gotta love capitalism!

Um, if Giblet were to meet Mr. DeeFlowered, I suspect there'd be petals all over the shop.

I got there about 11:30 and left about 12:45. It was busy enough just mainly gay guys and a few backpackers. Fun in it's way but not quite what I was expecting.
Is that it for Phnom Penh?

If the image below is more your thing, then just ask any Tuk Tuk to take you to Prey Sar (or Prey Sor). They all know where it is. (btw - if you see any police or guards, don't worry they're cool. Just wait till you get inside). Enjoy!

Hmm, well I'm not sure if I have found the best places yet.
Went to Sharkys last night which I mistakenly thought was a sports bar... they had one tv in the corner. Doh! Went to Paddy Rice to watch the football. Good crowd in there.
Are there any other good bars/nightclubs I should be checking out?

I for one like the new disguise Bill has made for himself as the clueless new guy in town.
