Long stay visa? what type do you have?

Postby San Miguel » Thu Apr 19, 2012 8:50 am

Hi guys. I'm thinking about visiting Cambodia for a long stay. Perhaps a year or two. Looked everywhere but found only visa for short stay visitors.
Do they have retirement visa for retirees? Someone once mentioned that one can attain business visa for $250 a year and stay without question for a year.
What are my options?
thank you so much. San Miguel :D :o :P

Business visa for up to a year.
Renew at a travel agent for about $280 per year.
No "retirement visa"...that is in money hungry Thailand.....but will probably come here eventually.....

Got it Robboat. Thanx. You might have answered an ultimate question I've been waiting for. An easy visa...virtually nothing. The big question is. Can I find an affordable apartment or service hotel and live on $800 a month all together

thank you San Miguel ps Do you get the business visa before arriving....get it here in the states?

I may be wrong but you can ask for it at the airport on arrival (!!). It's 30 days then during that month you find an agent and then you renew it for a year...

^You are not wrong. Just get a 30 day biz visa on arrival ($25) and have it extended to a 12 month one through an agent. Repeat for as long as you like. Easy as.

Get a visa on arrival for 25USD, extend it for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. 6 and 12 month extensions are multi entry.

No documenting paperwork needed.

Make sure it's a visa and not a tourist visa.

And then you can worry about a work permit later if you plan to get paid for work here - everyone has one of those too right ... :axe:

Of course, it's the law. We are all guests in this wonderful country. The least we can do is follow the rules here.

True, we should follow the sterling example of the ruling class, who are paragons of morality and kindness. Maybe then we can attain enlightenment, but EDC seem determined to stop my quest for that. :jesus:

I don't believe it's called a business visa anymore. What used to be called a business visa is now called an "ordinary" visa. It appears to be essentially the same thing as the old business visa - $25, and can extend it for a year.

My information is from last fall. If anybody has more up to date information, please correct me.

In any case, do not get the tourist visa, which can only be extended for a short amount of time.
