I need room/apt 8 min walk to river for around 200 (1month)

Queries related to building and decorating and whatever else the married dudes are up to, as well as all the repetitive questions about "Where can I find a nice air conditioned apartment in a good location for $75 a month?"
From January 2013, no commercial agents.

I need room/apt 8 min walk to river for around 200 (1month)

Edit: Not needed anymore. BTW hilarious dissection of how fast I might be walking.

How fast do you walk?

Do you power walk, amble, walk with a zimmer frame?

How tall are you?, the length of stride also counts.

Does walking also involve window shopping?

When walking and crossing the road do you want to wait for a complete break in the traffic or are you happy to let the traffic go around you?

What time of the day do you want to do this walk as traffic and sidewalk congestion vary according to the time of day?

Will you be walking drunk or sober?

For me, 8 minutes walking will put me about
200 metres in front of my wife if we each walk at our respective paces. I walk about 750 metres in 8 minutes but if very drunk I will walk about 300m but only advance 100 metres in a straight line.

... and you thought it was such a simple request .
Note to self: Must be nice to morons.

What an arsehole you are, once again you introduce logic to a gun fight.
You do know that logic is forbidden in Camb under section 11.23 of sub decree 218.9 ( refer to updated version 24/11/2009 ) for full details.

If you refer to Wikipedia you will also know that 8 min's translates into 984 meters, so the guy wants to be within 1 Klm of Riverside.

And by the way, your sums are wrong, prior posts suggests that your wife likes to window shop, so you would in fact be 635 meters in front of her after 8 min's.
I rest my case. :D
Enjoy life cos you only get one chance at it.

The fact that you are a graphic designer is obviously essential information to your request. If you can stomach a 9-minute walk, you might just get the deal you are looking for. Though, I hear that rates rise incrementally by the duration of the walk 'to river' by the minute.

Good luck and forgive the cynicism. My name's Hector!

For an apartment you know you will have to pay a deposit, right? And probably utilities too. But I suppose you could work around the utility problem by agreeing to an outrageous lump sum. But you'll probably never see the deposit money again. Why not look around for a guesthouse with a balcony? Save yourself the hassle. And by the way, cigarettes are bad for you.

That requires trust.....
For example - we do not allow our tenants to pay rent from the bond unless for compelling reasons...they receive the bond when they vacate and all property items are checked OK.

OP - you should be able to negotiate a good deal with a guesthouse of your choice for the time you are there....but you want for your g/f to use it after you are gone...???
If that is the case then you would be best to rent somewhere you like (without a lease - pay rent well in advance) and make arrangement with the landlord if the situation changes.
Maybe your g/f can set this up for you?
Good luck

I do not smoke so am not aware of issues with smoking in guesthouses...just smoke outside....

I don't rent from a landlord who doesn't agree to it.

At all the places I've rented I've either not paid a deposit or have agreed with the landlord to use it up as rent as none has felt pressured. They all agreed immediately.

I rent unfurninshed.

SunSan, I am currently renting a place a few blocks from the river. I started out by assuming that the owner/landlord was honest. I had no reason to believe otherwise. It immediately became clear to me that this lady was completely unscrupulous. One lie after another. Her children unfortunately do the same. Whatever. I have no respect for people like this. Someday they will get what they so richly deserve. Hopefully. So, to answer your question, I have no reason to believe that she will effortlessly return my deposit money.

And wouldn't it be funny if I were sitting in the US embassy, waiting for new passport pages or whatever, and there she was, with kids in tow, her number one before mine, and they called her to the window for the obligatory immigration question and answer session. Would I step forth and offer my unsolicited opinion of this evil bitch? Take a guess.
