Facebook - Business use and issues

Postby dv8inpp » Sat May 05, 2012 4:43 am

Ok I'm trying to set up a business page for 104 bar, so follow the link Create a Page for a celebrity, band or business.. Which brings you to a multi choice of what kind of business/event thing are you trying to setup. Select local business option and fill out the details. Accept the term and liabilities and go to the next screen.

Try to create a new facebook account using infoat104barphnompenh.com the system rejects the address because it is a generic address and I should use my personal email unless I am setting up a business page. I used italics to show the little bit of information I got from their help pages.

So I tried all this again using my cavern email address and I could create a page and get the facebook.com/onezerofourpp great now tried to do the same thing for cavern and cant get my custom web address because I dont have enough people the like me.

Their help system seems to be devoid of people.

I think facebook is a good example of the 1000000 monkey approach to programming.

Is anybody else using Facebook business pages to promote their business, apparently if you are using your personal page to promote your business they might just disable it one day as you are in breach of the terms.

I made one (it's my sig). I agree - it's very very limiting. It's just an extension of my Facebook page whereas I wanted it to be stand-alone so I'm not the one who administers it. I also can't add friends or apps. All a bit crap, really.

You can add other admins to your 'page' - that should allow others to administrate for you; not sure what the control is like though, you may have to be wary of other admins if they move on and still have the keys - knowing FB they can probably remove your own admin rights! :banghead:

I don't knew if it's my settings, but it seems groups can add me without my consent... Anyone else notice that?
