I am waiting to buy one this summer when I move to Singapore, but like jm I am going in between the galaxy or the HTC but leaning towards the latter at the mo. Unless you tell me I could buy it here and still use it in Singapore in which case I might buy it now (the HTC, that is).

The battery is big like the G2, but slightly thinner.
The phone is thinner than the G2 also. The back cover
is like steel plate though. It could stop a bullet someday.

I used the sim from my G2 and the internet worked straightaway.

Galaxy S III

Early reports suggest the HTCs have the superior camera which is a major factor for me. I don't put much value on the speed differential or storage advantages of the GS III, for some people the latter might be a great advantage.

Ditto. I particularly a front camera that's not webcam quality, which is why the Iphone is ruled out of contention.

Really? I am something of a geek, but I am completely retarded when it comes to high end phones. Is it just a matter of buying an unlocked one here and then buying a simcard in Singapore?

Yes, all the high-end phones u buy will be unlocked (here) and can be used with all carriers (provided u buy a GSM phone that takes a Sim card.)

When u go to Singapore u just buy a Sim card and they setup the internet for u....

Cool beans, thank you Cambod. Went to a couple of places today to look at the HTC. The prices were a bit of a schocker (keep in mind thatuntil now a 100 bucks is the most I have ever spent on a phone). I think that I'll wait to be in Singapore and get a subsidized contract instead.

Yeah, the carriers offer huge discounts with a contact.... How much were they going for here?

600 for the HTC One X and 510 for the Galaxy II. Damn, all I really want is a phone with good front and rear cameras for the odd snapping and video calling and enough storage to replace my Ipod as a music player.

Galaxy S III

That's what I would have thought. Having a laptop with webcam I don't see the need for a great front facing camera. I prefer the smaller One S form factor, $199 on contract with t-Mobile.

running some kind of android software....
that was some reporters slur review of an iphone lookalike.

But as Steve Jobs pointed out........android is apple software with different
color buttons.

And the proof is in the Galaxy G3 lookalike software. On the fourth page of
icons, on the bottom row............that button.......there. It is a switch.

Say for instance that you like the button layout on your iphone. Or what if
you knew where everything was on your HTC and wanted to stick with something
you know. Use the above mentioned switch and your G3 becomes an emulation
of either an iphone or the HTC. You don't lose any info switching around.
You just get the layout you like.
