Here is the place to post any simple or complex questions you may have about any aspect of life in Cambodia and beyond without fear of being told 'That question has been asked 100 times before.'

Ok,so I'm sure this has been asked before, but the search function in the forum apparently doesn't work, so indulge me.
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced vet in PP? All I keep hearing about is Agrovet, which I'm sure is great but their prices seem pretty steep considering that, hell, we're in Cambodia. Doing the math, I could easily drop well over $100 between vaccinations and parasite control/testing (skipping it isn't an option). Pretty much the dead-on the same prices as the vet school I'd take my pets to back home. In America I accept I have to pay $35 for someone to spend 30 seconds filling a syringe and stabbing my dog blindly in the neck, but here that just seems stupid. Shit, I'd just do it myself if I didn't need the paperwork.
Can anyone recommend a cheaper vet? I still want a legit vet, not a guy with a greasy needle and a mason jar full of "vaccine", but still there's got to be vets who charge more reasonable fees. I don't care about fancy offices or whatever. Also need microchipping done, don't know if any vets do that here....
Thanks guys

There's a small clinic near the intersection of Monireth and Sihanouk . Much cheaper, but competent. You need detective skills...go towards the city from Steung Meanchey bridge, past MTT, as you appraoch Sihanouk Blvd, you will see a doggy sign on your right. Near where MIS used to be before Bill intervened...justifiably..iimss
People who steal from banks get jail. Banks who steal from people get bonuses. You gotta love capitalism!

There used to be an official Government Khmer vet on Monivong North just past or before Raffles. took my first cat "Oi " there to have his balls cut off. Died from complications 6 months later! Want the animal to live Agrovet, don't care Anyold vet.
Bollocks to it all.

Vlad- Any ideas on the name? I'd like to call to check about prices/services.
Horace - So is the "official government Khmer" vet still there? "Official government" would prob look much better on the import papers. I don't need anything cut off (or sewn on), just some simple vaccinations and prelim stuff, pretty hard to f up so not too concerned about complications... also, sorry to hear about your cat, that really sucks. 6 mos later from nut complications? Jeez.

Jimbardo - I'd definitely appreciate if you could get the phone number or e-mail... I'm in Takeo so a pop-in will be difficult. Much appreciated

Dr Lim Pak on 174 would be okay for basic things but to be honest, I wouldn't take my cat there for something serious. As a general rule, he is 50% cheaper than agrovet, although his clinic is very 'homely' and less professional. In my experience, vets are much more expensive here, than in neighbouring countries.
