I've taken busses from PP to Sihanoukville and sometimes they stop at the big open air bus station and other times along the main downtown strip. I prefer the big bus station as it is walking distance to where I want to go.
Does anyone know which company's busses stop at the big station and which ones stop downtown? Is there a certain time at night where this station is no longer used?

It's been hit or miss in my experience lately. Capitol stops there, but I jumped off early last month.. I remember Sorya stopping there as well...

I think there is another relatively recent thread where Ken Svay and others mention this.

If you walk to just outside the bus station you'll find someone willing to to take a more reasonable price, $1 for a moto or $2 for a tuk tuk to Serendipity.

$1 for a moto from Victory to serendipity? you must be a good negotiator.

There are always dozens of motorcycle taxis (motodups) and a few car taxis waiting for new arrivals. Some guesthouses and hotels offer a free shuttle for pre-booked guests. Look for a placard displaying your name. Motodup prices to the various parts of town are posted on the wall at the bus stop. Car taxis cost $6-$7 from the bus stop to almost anywhere in town. Bear in mind that with rising fuel costs, prices may vary slightly. Motodup from the bus stop to downtown: 3000-4000R. From the old bus-station? http://www.canbypublications.com/sihano ... travel.htm

I can vouch for the $1 moto, I've always payed more for the tuktuks from the new station, but it's always for several people....

Well done, we can't get a tuk tuk for even close to that. They flaty refuse, as in drive away, if we try for under $4 (this is across the road) for two of us with luggage, a small piece each and we're not quite as far as Serendipty. We tried from Victory Hill one night, they wouldn't come under $5, just sat there and said no, which is fair enough. I called a driver I know, he came and got us and I paid him $3 but we use him semi-regularly.

For your original question, I found that Capitol and Sorya bus's don't always enter the bus station after 5pm but there is a stop close to there, just after the bus turns left at the top of the hill. The tuk tuks here in Snooky are throwing their rattles out of their prams at the moment and have been greedy for a long time. Do not take the tuks from inside the bus station if you happen to get off there, but as other poster suggests just outside out of view and be prepared to haggle. If you have more than one passenger and baggage, it will be more, takes more fuel to pull you along! if you were khmer, 4 to 5000 riel from bus station to Serendip on moto, (I don't know what tuk's charge,) because you are barang, probably 50% more at least.

To update:
Just took a Sorya bus to Sinville and we arrived about 4pm and stopped in town at their office. My Barang buddy and i got a TukTuk down to $5 to Otres Beach, but we ended up taking motodopes to Otres for $1.50 each. The road out there is still total shit and we took the over-the-hill route.
I do remember paying $4 from Otres back to the NEW bus station last trip....
