http://www.digi.com.kh/digi/net/home/Still more expensive than metfone for unlimited/512 kbps Why can't you use a desktop for metfone? I did it for about 6 months/landline The landline service is good, but I have read a lot of complaints about metfone's dongle service. Why is this so?

I'm currently using Metfone's new U20 deal. There's nothing wrong with it in that you do get what you pay for - i.e. a reliable 256Mb connection. DV8 is probably implying that's too frustrating when you want to download torrents and watch youtube videos. For surfing/emailing it's fine. The landline has always been fine too. The complaints centre on the LT20 and other limited deals where they frankly con the customer. You have to send an interminable amount of text messages with the right message to get the right deal and all too often you think you're good for 12Gb and you find out half a Gb later you're money's used up. It's done deliberately obtusely to screw the customer, and the constant hoards queuing at the offices testify to. I'll need more speed soon and I'll be prepared to pay a bit more to a provider who is honest with the customer and doesn't treat them with such contempt.

The metfone connection is a 256Kb connection which is 32KB/s, so to down load a 100MB file takes about 50 minutes, and that's all you you can do with your internet for that 50 minutes, yes it's suitable for browsing and doing e-mail. I was updating my phone yesterday which required to download about 500MB of files and so I couldn't use the Internet all day.
Not much use if you are maintaining/building websites where you want to be able to upload photos and update content.
Good for my phone, not good for my desktop. Got spoiled using a fast connection.

I've got torrents downloading now at 25kb/s and I have mu-torrent on constantly. Getting to the end of the first month on U20 and have downloaded 30GB. I'm websurfing concurrently, so it's not that bad. But yes, it is hard to go back and I suspect I'll get fed up with the limitations soon.

I am tearing my hair out only a few days in with UT20. I think cavemen have a faster connection than 25kb/s.... I might go back to LTVIP next round.

Ok, i know this thread is about mobile internet, BUT wanted to let u all know about the deals through Camnet (whom i despise and would never recommend because they suck and are the biggest pain in the ass to deal with).
They have been giving customers DOUBLE the speed they pay for for at least the past 6 months or so, and have no plans to stop. Might mean they are about to go under, who knows. Either way, it's a free modem and no contract, and i think it's still free installation...
Here are the regular posted prices>
128Kbps $15
256Kbps $20
512Kb $30
1Mbps $55
The speeds are doubled but u pay the same price (meaning for $20 u will have 512Kbps)
I've posted before how I'm getting 512Kbps speeds but pay less. I was on an older plan and never asked questions. My modem broke so it was question time this week.
I'm going to pick up my new modem 2moro and change to the $33 (with tax) per month plan for truly UNLIMITED 1Mbps speed.
It's a love/hate relationship with them...

On Sihanouk blvd just WEST of Monivong. So disorganized. When they go around their ass to get to their elbow, that's a shortcut.

State Company private sector spin-off (few doors up from Telecom Cambodia), all you need to know really, still sounds like a good deal.

Cambod,
You were right. My speed slowed town to a crawl. When I did a speed test it said 95% of Cambodia had faster internet. Now I have LT12 plan I think. it is much faster but how much internet is 4gbts??? I could not stand the torture any more.

4GB is about thirteen 45 minute T shows recorded in standard definition using H264 compression or 2 copies of the New Avengers movie at 1.8GB each.

I don't download movies so hopefully it will last for two weeks. If it lasts for two weeks that will be $24.00 a month that is not to bad. I now have decent speed.
