This is a free speech zone where you can discuss and debate everything Cambodia related whether you're a dyed in the wool leftist, a liberal or somewhere to right of Attila the Hun. This is also where you get to read the news the local media suppresses.

I make music videos and want to make a music video for a cool band in Cambodia. I mainly like electronic music or rock music, but listen to anything. I just returned from a short trip to Cambodia and I love it very much. I heard lots of Karaoke music there. But when I came home to Australia, I noticed that collectors have started listening to the music of Cambodia before the Khmer Rouge took over. I wished I had found some of that old music when I was visiting? Obviously not all the records were destroyed.... So if there is some cool music that is happening now, I would love to hear it. If you are a musician, please send me your music and then I can decide if I like it enough to make you a music video. I will be using footage of the temples in Siem Reap and also city scenes from my recent trip. I make music videos and VJ, so I want the video to look psychedelic / trippy. I will not be charging $money for this, I expect that I will be swapping the rights to use your song for your rights to use my video. I will be putting the video up on Youtube and you will be credited with all the music copyright and I will give you a copy of the video to use as you wish. X Craig

Copyright is rarely (never) enforced in Cambodia. Just "borrow" some music you like.

Post a link to something you've made if you have anything available. I know you're offering to do the video for free, but it would help people know what you're about or what it might end up looking like - if they see that you'd do something quality, you'll get some interest. We're still working on songs, maybe once we've got something recorded - but that could be a while.
And, yeah, that's true about the copyright, but I think it'd be more polite to ask the band first if you find one you like, speaking from that perspective. I'm sure they'd say yes, or they'd say exactly what I just said and ask for a sample of your work to make sure that it isn't complete shit, because their band name / song is going to be attached to it, free or not.

There is a copyright law in Cambodia, it's just rarely enforced.

Yup, nice idea, please make a video compiled from your stock material... duh. By the looks of it GS is doing just fine making his own stuff.

Youtube is full of music you can use under the creative commons attribution license. Could probably use traditional or classic Khmer music under that license, as long as credit is given. There are no bands around here today imo, that are at the same level of class as the old pre KR period bygones.
