Undercover Apple's Music

Postby MeasIIDX » Thu Jul 26, 2012 1:35 am

Hello everyone on the Khmer 440 Forums

I'm a Khmer musician trying to break into the electronic indie pop scene. I am from Long Beach and I collaborate with a singer in the UK over skype/email to write music.

Basically defying my parents wishes, I've been studying music and sound and I'd love for other Khmer folks to hear our music.

Leaflette is a song about a girl following the journey of a tiny leaf through the seasons.

See You In The Sea is a song about two droplets of water in a rain cloud that wish to be reunited in the ocean.

The Door Maker is a song about a boy who thinks building doors will help give him more opportunities.

Thanks you kindly for listening. I really want to show my parents that a young Khmer musician can play with the big boys in this genre

Undercover Apple's Music

That is good. I always wanted to be a pop star but my parents said I should become a German Teacher.

Do you need a back up dancer / maraca player?

We could be massive in Germany and maybe Austria.

I'd love for someone to be on stage and play the maracas! Sorry though Rob, we currently don't have plans to play live since we're so far apart  I'll let you know once we tour Cambodia, Austria, and Germany!

I like 'Leaflette' track best; great intro, bouyant melody, good vocals, could be a bit more punchy/dirty though...don't let Kimbra get a hold of this! Are the lyrics of your songs inspired by Khmer folk-tales or the like?..( just curious), and almost incredible the two of you have not met in person.

Thanks for listening Kinard! I'll make sure Kimbra doesn't hear this :p As for inspiration, the only tales I've heard from my parents are using ghost stories hahah! Most of my lyrics are inspired by weather and nature. I'd love to write a folk song about my parents and their trials when they were younger though. My parents were separated when they were put in the camps and my father was forced to leave and work in another camp. He was gone for 2 years and people kept telling my mom that he died and that he was never coming back. My mom didn't care because she loved him so much, she ended up just waiting and taking care of my oldest brother at the time. When my dad finally returned 2 years later, the first thing my mom did was slap him and said "Never ever leave me again." We just celebrated their 30th Anniversary not too long ago :D

Hi Young man,

Great to hear something techno/indie - fresh and a little different !

If your ever in Phnom Penh, please pop in to Sharky Bar (St.130) and have a chat with either me (David or Ross.)

Maybe we can sort out a gig for you, whenever your next in town.

Keep up the good work - and we wish you the best of luck in the future !

Cheerz Sharky Bar
