Cost of electricity per KWH and cost of water?
Cost of electricity per KWH and cost of water?
What is the correct price of electricity per KWH? Also, the cost of water per month for a small apt with one person? I don't want to be over-charged by a landlord...
Thanks
Thanks

It depends on your landlord.Really, it can be completely arbitrary, depending on the greed-o-meter.
It may have gone up this month/ be going up shortly, obviously in recognition of EDC's great track record.
Up to 100kwh was between 680/720 riel. After 100kwh it rises, can't remember to what.
Get hold of a Khmer bill, it states all the rates. This, and the price of water, is something everyone should stipulate is in their lease.
Ignore at your own peril.

Got an electric bill & a translator ... there is a price change from September 15th onwards:
Phnom Penh
< 50kW consumption for the month - stays at 610 KHR/kW
>50kW - stays at 720 KHR/kW
>200kW - rises from 720 to 820 KHR/kW
Kampong Speu, Sihanoukville
<200kW - stays at 720 KHR/kW
>200kW - rises from 720 to 820 KHR/kW
Running a typical Cambo 4-floor shop-house costs me about $150/m (600,000 KHR) - that's with three fridges, four TVs, three aircon units, one of which is on quite a bit, three computers and a sound studio that puts Abbey Road to shame*
Don't have a water bill yet sorry.
* Lied about that bit, but got some serious amps & musical stuff for brother in law who is a TV singer and likes to practice (thankfully he's damn good!)

what like from not enough fabric softener? i would guess pretty much whatever they want... though it seems weird for an apartment to have a generator as it's primary power source. buy lots of real surge protectors.

If he's anything like this guy, I think you should just pay without asking too many questions!!Jonny wrote:Good replies, thanks, but what does a landlord typically charge for electricity generated by themselves?

You PPners got it cheap, in SR it is usually 1000r/kw but I reckon landlords put a mark up on it.

Re cost of water:
As per my current bill for the previous TWO MONTHS-
Metered Consumption - TR1 Quantity - 14 M3, Unit Price - 550, Amount - 7700.
Metered Consumption - TR2 Quantity - 12 M3, Unit Price - 770, Amount - 9240.
Meter Maintenance - 1500.
Sewerage Charge - 1694.
Rounding of Water Bill - 16.
Total Amount - 20150.00.
(all prices in Real)
So equates to about $2.50 per month.
3 people and regular use of a washing machine.

2000 per kip (sp?) of water
