seldomseen wrote:Hey Bob, probably a silly question. Just when you first wrote about the red haired women, you claimed the family gave you the discription and wanted you to help find her. Then when the police are looking for a much smaller lady you say 'maybe they got glasses'. Why slag off the police if the family gave you the faulty description.
But at least your detective skills are sharp, only took a couple of weeks to ascertain that the tall red haired women was his next door neighbour. Top sleuthing.
a) The family got their information from the police. The description was derived from a witness who claimed that the woman was the same height and build as Olly.
b) There is no positive information that the woman referred to is, in fact, the one next door to Olly's. That is why, in the latest report, I do not identify her as such and until it can be confirmed that they are one and the same I shall not report it as such.
c) There is no reference to police and glasses in the report.

Hey Bob. This is a genuine question, I'd like to think this is true. Your report states there is a "French investigative Judge". As far as I know, it took 1 year for the French to send a judge down here on the Laurent Vallier's case. Is there really a French investigating judge on that case or are you just referring to the brief visit the people assigned to Lauren'ts case made in Kampot ?

It is true. There is a French Investigative judge, in France, who has been reviewing the evidence and has produced his/her report. I understand the DNA evidence is part of that. The report has been sent to the French Embassy in Phnom Penh. I do not yet have access to the report but a copy has been promised. It is too early to say what the French report covers but clearly does not involve many of the witnesses in Kampot. What influence that report will have on the investigative judge in Cambodia is hard to predict.

Ah ok, that would make sense there is a Judge in France. It will take them a year to send him/her to Cambodia, like with Laurent. In the meantime (call me sarcastic) I doubt this will have much effect on the decision making process here. As for the DNA, I am not sure what to make out of the last lines of this article: http://lejournalducambodge.blogspot.com ... -dans.html

DNA samples have been taken and have been analyzed in France. How helpful the DNA evidence will be cannot be determined until the report is made public.

I am familiar with the gossip about Olly. What matters is the evidence. Gossip isn't evidence.
Still a very strange combination:
- A big male westerner killing a more then a foot smaller and tiny girl, using a machete, presumed in rage, starting from something which might have been a romantic moment (read: naked). In the west, such a "job" would have been finished with strangling or maybe suffocation and probably not even with a regular knife.
- An older western woman now presumed to do the same. A woman handling a machete as a deadly weapon in overhead mode ? Hmmm.
- Why would a westerner walk around with a machete ?
- Repeatedly using a machete as a deadly weapon in an obvious overhead attack mode, isn't something you learn in 5 minutes, it does require quite some skills to do so. For example, learned through daily farming/bush labor.
Motif unclear and the weapon doesn't fit either.

with skill and precision, yes. just "whacking" away at someone, no. pretty much anyone who's used a hatchet, hammer, etc will use it in that way.v12 wrote: - Repeatedly using a machete as a deadly weapon in an obvious overhead attack mode, isn't something you learn in 5 minutes, it does require quite some skills to do so. Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard.

They recently ruled out suicide in that case.bonnetdedouche wrote: As far as I know, it took 1 year for the French to send a judge down here on the Laurent Vallier's case.

There's a lot of assumptions going on there. Machete? Have they found the weapon? Could have been any sharp heavy instrument, like a kitchen cleaver. "An obvious overhead attack mode"? You have obviously seen the body or photos of the victim, or have you? Why do you assume she was naked when hacked? Or even conscious? You refer to the height of Begnis, something not published as far as I know? It is unwise to speculate in the absen ce of evidence.
Maybe this dude was in kampot ?
