- I want to make sure that my insurance covers the possibility that I'm injured whilst driving whilst in country on my next visit.
I've always taken public transport for major distances in the past and only driven bikes for a few days here and there when I stopped off in Kep/Kampot, Battambang and a few other places I forget the name of, this time I want to spend 3 wks plus on a bike wandering where ever I end up need to make sure I'm covered by my insurance Company if something goes arse up.
When I first arrived, I used to pull out a Victorian Boat License, which had shiny holograms and such. I would pass this off as an "international license".
Worked pretty well for a while, until one day I happened across a literate cop looked up at me with a smirk and said "boat not car".
Damn.
City is changing though. I think soon it will be extremely unwise to get around without all paperwork and insurance in order. Maybe there is more money to be made by cops/bureaucrats who hand out fines for license, registration or vehicle safety infringements as opposed to the usual shakedown M.O. of helmets, headlights etc.
