What to do with an 20 hr stop over in KL -
Suggestions anyone, I'm flying Air Asia and land in KL at 7.30 AM and will be catching a flight the next day at 7 AM to Laos.
Suggestions on how to amuse myself, what to see and a cheapish place to get 5-6 hrs sleep.( Preferably near the Airport )
Thanks
Kev

Since I'm not in a hurry to be anywhere, any suggestions on spending 2 days or so in KL would also be warmly received.

Petronas Towers? KL Tower? Chinatown? I recall a couple of decent bars around Chinatown.

Not in the way I'd originally planned, I guess I'll be hiring a bike just to travel around wherever I am at the time.LexusSchmexus wrote:So are you gonna do that moto trip?

Day 1: travel into town
Day 2: travel back to the airport

If I remember right---like an hour & a half bus ride between the airport & the downtown bus station. Pretty smooth sailing both ways in the evening. Neat looking city. Chinatown (Pasar Seni) was only about 1 stop from the bus station (KL Sentral). I'd stay somewhere around there. You can see some nice street murals along the muddy Klang river----neat buildings, glimpses of the nearby KL Needle (tower), lots of greenspace, lots of Indians, even though Lit. India proper is 1 stop the other direction (Bangsar). Lots of different tourists, but not excessive. Just walk.
I highly recommend seeing the Batu caves. It is a calm 45 min (or so) light-rail ride from the Chinatown region. Free to get in. A bunch of small Indian cafes to eat at near the base. Huge, dripping, cool, colorful. Quite a steep, wide set of stairs to get in, crawling with macaques. Spend a couple hours there.
Get over to Bukit Bintang for dinner. Lots of great eateries. Modern with a touch of seed in spots. Actually a decent area to stay---but not nearly as quaint & green as Chinatown though it is much closer to KLCC (Petronas) on foot. If you need electronics go to Plaza Low Yat. Come night--the seed amps up a notch--but not scary like... A couple, nicer, open air places can be found around Bukit Nanas, a short walk 3 stops away. ETC.

I was just at Batu Caves a few weeks ago. I didn't see any magic mushies being sold by anyone. Maybe? I wasn't looking for them. But there were no obvious deals being made. The only thing I tripped on were the fucking steep stairs on my way up.
