What are the transport options for getting from the airport into PP, especially if you have a lot of stuff? Are there proper taxis? In fact, are there proper taxis in PP at all?

How long is the trip? What should you pay?

Thanks, lah!

if you have as much crap as i did then i'd recommend the taxi's. the are to the right once you clear the terminal. i paid $6 in to town and it took about 15 minutes or so.
i didn't bother haggling as i couldn't be screwed, but i think the price is set. also the LP suggested that $7 was the norm....so, yeah.

i'm sure you could get on a moto if you wandered out to the street. then it would probably only cost you a buck.

I think the fixed price displayed on the booth is still 7usd. Ignore this.

Yes, you can pick up a moto at the side of the road. However, if you have a lot of baggage you could strike up conversation with another passenger off the flight and suggest sharing a taxi.

When you walk past the booth and strike out for the main road one of the drivers will run after you and make a sensible offer.

4usd for two people with bags is a fair price.

You could always go with a Teuk-Teuk. Cost would be $3 and you can put a fair amount on it. I am not sure if they are available at the airport but I know a reliable one if you need it.

From the airport I have done several methods

Just a backpack, go outside the gates and negotiate $1 into town from a motodop.

Book into a hotel (such as the Paris) that gives you free pick up (and drop off), even if you are staying only one night.

I have a regular driver with taxi that I contact and pay $5.

Otherwise the regulated taxis are $7 asking price, which should not break a barang..

Thanks guys! You know, in all the months I have been tuning into to 440, this is the first time I recall anyone mentioning anything about taxis. They sound pretty cheap, doesn't anyone like to escape from the dust-rain-mud once in awhile and treat themselves to a taxi ride ???

Thanks, lah!
