Aren't a lot of the younger male servers here straight out of university with a business degree? Some of them are acting quite entitled having to serve an older white dude it seems, and no one knows what goes on with the food behind those kitchen walls.
Paddy rice has a great location, no surprise it's popular with tourists, good call on the new management, and that capable people still do arrive on these shores.

Oh shut up and top throwing a Paddy.Kon Khmer wrote:But then it still sounds like you are racist and look down on us. Because we are khmer, we are bound to be retarded?
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

isn't him? Anyway i will not argue with him as he is a top bloke here, he can even pick on the owner of this forum.pedros wrote:Kon Khmer wrote:But then it still sounds like you are racist and look down on us. Just because there are some dudes working in the restaurant that couldn't satisfy you with the service, then you generalised the whole Cambodian young men.
Gavin Mac in generalizing shocker
Saying that, there's no smoke without fire. I'm surprised he didn't come out with 'and there all a bit rapey, too', which is something of a pet project for you, kon khmer.

it will cost you more than 100 quail eggs, however i think you might have saved a lot of money as you are paying peanut for your native speaker teachers. Can't imagine native speaker accept 300 dollars salary per month for teaching job.pedros wrote:I'll try paddy rice this weekend. A few years since I've bothered with the place.
Yeah the khmers and the look down on crap. Gavinmac shouldn't be looking down on khmers, they are much better at doing it to each other.

Same in most so called third world countries, but it still does not warrant shitty service or indifference on their part. What isn't said because most of us like pussy, it's the same for women servers. Just as inept and many of them give shit attitude.pablomiguelgarcia wrote:Aren't a lot of the younger male servers here straight out of university with a business degree? As far as Paddy Rice is concerned, you're right. It's a great location and getting their act together is good to hear. The building itself could be so much cooler and fun. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they don't play music there and I would have liked that better than listening to the dirty exTats next to me. I do believe they televise sporting events, but again, I'm not 100% sure the sound is up. It seems like a waist of space there too and the bar mostly unused. There is a lot to work out, but at least they have something to work with. I find the place utterly boring, but I will try it one more time when I get back.

Nice 1 Sammy, good to see you have your finger on the facts. Care to share your salary levels with the class?Kon Khmer wrote:it will cost you more than 100 quail eggs, however i think you might have saved a lot of money as you are paying peanut for your native speaker teachers. For the record, I believe the PR breakfast retails for $5.50. 100 quail eggs go for $7. Thus proof of the issues with Khmer dudes working in the service industry that Gavin was speaking about.
Didn't you once tell a story about how you worked in a hotel for 1 morning, but quit because they wouldn't allow you to sit down?

I would like to do the Sunday Dinner at Northcote and, if it ever doesn't sell out in a nano second, one of Victors master classes.
Those who think all British food is substandard, with all meat incinerated and vegetables cooked for so long they are unable to bear their own weight, obviously only have experience of the restaurants, where all dishes are prefixed by 'Mc' That, I think you might find, are cooked in the American style.

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

Actually looking at the profiles most of them were trained by English Chefs in England....ricecakes wrote:Now......of those chefs.....how many were trained by a fellow pom ? or....for that matter...in England itself ?
Maybe you have been in Asia too long and missed the culinary trends in Blighty? I am the first one to knock English food but if I am honest a lot has changed over the last couple of decades.

23 million Australians can't be wrong about the quality of good ol' traditional British grub can they?

There's a bias in the Michelin star system towards European, Japanese and certain Chinese cuisines.
Finicky preparation seems to be very high on their list of priorities. A bit like how a comedy won't trump a serious holocaust drama at the oscars.
Two things that are grossly underrepresented:
1. Mexican and Latin American cuisine - the Yanks would do very well in this category. San Diego could probably fly the flag on its own.
2. SE Asian cuisine - woeful in Europe. Tropical produce lacking. Aussies would dominate this if it was rated by the Frogs.
