Can someone with a deeper understanding of European fuel standards, and how this affects us in Cambodia, give me a brief overview?
I understand that some new cars cannot be imported here because our fuel quality is not high enough. Is the highest that we can get Euro 5, and only at Total? How does this impact heavy machinery? Do automobile and heavy machinery makers offer new products that can run on lower quality diesel, specifically for developing markets?
European fuel standards
Some of the big oil companies, Total, BP etc, sell low quality fuel to developing African countries that don't have the same regulation as the EU or US does. The diesel is crap and emits high amounts of carcinogens.
The big oil companies partner with a local company so they don't have their name in it.
I'd imagine it's the same here.
