Hot water washing machines
Hot water washing machines
Are there such things as washing machines that use hot water in Cambodia or are they all cold water ones?
I'm looking to move to a new apartment in the next month. The one I live in currently has a washing machine but it only uses cold water and it doesn't really clean our clothes all that well.
I just wondered if cold water washing machines are the norm out here?
Thanks

My washing machine uses hot water. It goes up to 60C I believe. LG, if that helps...

Asia has toploaders (so does Australia, so I'm told).
The normal world has front loaders, which are more efficient (both in electricity/water consumption and how they wash your clothes) and are physically smaller, but more expensive and as a result will allow you to wash your clothes "cold". Toploaders. Gay.
Any washing machine will be less efficient and unreliable over time.
If you want to avoid the above spend more than $320 on a front loader. If you're not fussed buy a top loader for $100 less and be prepared to be mocked.
Good luck.

pew, pew, pew, pew!
Thanks for the replies. I've only been here 6 months and this is the first apartment I've rented. It came with a (top loading) washing machine but it only uses cold water.
My contract is due to expire and I'm looking for a cheaper apartment. I just wondered if cold water washing machines were normal here or if mine was the exception.
Thanks

Yes normal but top loaders (gay) don't wash your clothes as well as a front loaders on cold.
My advice. Have cleaner ladyboys. (in more ways than one)

Have cleaner ladyboys? lol
Do you mean have ladyboys who are cleaner (don't soil their clothes as much) or have ladyboys who are cleaners?
Either way they don't really appeal to me but thanks for the tip

Picked up mine from the Sunsimexco shop north end of Monivong (see coffee machine thread).
Panasonic NA-140VG4; has a 90c wash- cracking for white cotton shirts. as mentioned, expect to fork out a bit more, but with every penny vs those crappy cold water top loaders.

Almost all apartments here have those toploaders with cold water also most expensive apartments and homes. It is really silly in my opinion. But I got a tip from someone he said he connected hot water to his toploader and his towels and clothes came out cleaner.
Especially for towels and bedsheets you need hot water.
if you buy a frontloader please look at the KG sign in front of the machine! Especially with LG this is a bit scammy in some shops, they offer you the small 7kg machine wich is really too small and you can't fit 7kg, not even fit kingsize bedsheets..
The kg sign on commercial machines is misleading and just marketing, If you know something about professional laundry care and their machines you can see that they have a real kg sign which is for example only 7kg for a pretty large frontloader compared to the 7kg LG. I would recommend a machine at least to go for the absolute minimum 8kg but better 9kg. Than at least you can wash all 1 kingsized bed sheets in once. otherwise you need to wash 2 times with the 7kg machine.. when cleaning your bed.
When you wash your laundry in a frontloader.. Look when it turns that it has to "bash" and fall in order to make it clean. so if your front loader machine is too full you don't get that bash/beat and splash effect..
and if you only put 2 underwear in a machine that is too little for the bash and splash effect to happen...
Another very important thing to look out for is make sure you buy washing powder and not softner!!! I have seen often fellow expats in asia doing their laundry with softner only.. because they thought they bought liquid detergent!
They were sleeping in greasy sheets lol hahha and the lady thought she had to use even more of it (softner) hahah

Technically you need both washing powder/liquid and fabric softener ...

I bought an LG front loading machine last year. At least I think it's an LG.
Direct Drive motor, ten year warranty on said motor.
Washes up to 90c.
Was around $400.

I got the same 7kg LG similar price. It sings a little tune when it is finished.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
I do my washing in the afternoon when the tap water is warmer and supplement it with three or four litres of hot water from the kettle.

^Maybe we just tumbled into talking about washing machines, but I'll agree it isn't a hotpoint.
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.
