Strangely, a well-managed night scene is better than most other places at night.
It's like going to a casino. Yes, gambling is dangerous. It can be addictive. But the security and service is excellent. ATMs are the best, and they ALWAYS have aircon and power. In Vegas, hotels and buffets are dirt cheap because of casinos.
Gambling can also be fun, and occasionally worthwhile.
So too, quite strangely, are night scenes in Asia.
Security is good *inside* the business. Food is generally cheap and tasty and open all night near night clubs. My favorite BBQ grilled pork (and seafood) joint is near 3 KTVs. Seems people get hungry there at night.
Parking in their parking lot is well-supervised and open all night.
English is strangely better inside a bar, than at many "legitimate" business, none of which are open at night.
I do not support nor frequent these places. But, I do take advantage of their corollary benefits, like lights, security, parking, and quick food.

You just use them to sip water and take advantage of free WiFi, like you did before you got slung out of garage.TristranandIsolde wrote:Strangely, a well-managed night scene is better than most other places at night.

Ah, the Troll of Kampong Speu chimes in.
Did you notice the Garage is a dump now, forgotten and obsolete?
Customer service.
And each place I go, I buy a drink. I go to a few places, end up at the Garage, I'm up to my gills in drinks, and I want to relax. Then someone pushy irks me. Not their best moment.
Some months later, they sold out. Charming service was the real cause.
One shouldn't be in hospitality if one doesn't like to smile.
Stop being such a rude dolt, will you?

You haven't been recently then? Some subtle changes which have improved the bar considerably. New lighting, new furnishings, new bar chairs at an excellent height for the bar and with a seat back so a person can relax into the chairs, no dead space against the wall. It is no longer forgotten and obsoleteTristranandIsolde wrote:Ah, the Troll of Kampong Speu chimes in.

What the goddamn fuck are you on about now? Why do you keep torturing us with this interior monologue? Can't you organize your meandering thoughts into succinct sentences? You seem like a well-meaning chap, maybe just stop waffling and say what you need to say?TristranandIsolde wrote:Strangely, a well-managed night scene is better than most other places at night.

Yeah, everyone welcome to come down to my village, we can get mashup at the classiest KTV/beer garden, calle Oral (I shit you not), before working down to the seedier 'Khmer-love-Khmer' joints down the dirt track.
