Home grown Italian basil
There was a difference of opinion, twice actually with rugby fans and football (soccer) fans. "Shut the duck up, I'm warning you". "Stop disturbing the customers". A bit of tissue thrown at me and threats of fisticuffs. The English can be really passionate with these 2 sports sometimes to the point of hooliganism....And some hate to hear comments from Canadians or Americans regarding these sports as we should stick to hockey, basebal (rounders) and American football.
I wonder who would be the champion of a "How many bars have you been kicked out of/banned from?" thread.....
How's the basil business going?
I utterly failed growing tomatoes, only managed to produce a few flowers that then fell off, but a few sorry genovese basil plants I got from neighbor seem to be doing surprisingly ok, given hostile environment - hot west/south-facing balcony, poor soil, no skill growing stuff in tropics, etc.

As for tomatoes, have tried with very little success...The plants grow to 3 feet but never seem to get any tomatoes...Jalopenos and habaneros are also very difficult....
Not bad, you are a successful urban farmer!
Time to hit Thai restaurants with that Thai basil.. who knows, maybe it was a blessing in disguise.. good luck.
With tomatoes I think you have to be very meticulous - only plant confirmed tropical varieties, during short winter window, only eastern exposure, etc.. there are long write ups online, mostly from people growing in Caribbeans, I recall.
