new business project directed at expats, your opinions are welcome
Gavin Scott doesn’t do his own tests. He uses Paramed. So there’s one possible customer.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Not sure it will work out. If you just want a check up, you drive past your favo lab and have your tests. Usually results at 3PM, by email if requested, and very anonymous if needed (just fill in D.J. Trump if you go for your monthly HIV check). More convenient than waiting at home for the nurse to come.
And if you're too ill to go out, you probably want your ass in clinic fast, so they can connect you to their magic drips and some medicine, while blood results are pending.... Last thing you want in that case is wait for a nurse just to draw some blood.
One advice: make sure the lab has enough tests every month to financially allow for a full range of tests. Many labs smaller labs don't, and have chemicals left they will use after expiring. Testing with expired chemicals gives false results. Which might or may not be noticed by the lab staff. In Cambodia maybe those stay unnoticed, but a Western doc will see them immediately and start advising against the use of that lab.

I think i'd be more interested in the OP's business project if he could at least be arsed to used capital letters.
Also, can the nurses give you a bed bath if you are too exhausted to go for a shower yourself? And with extra soap??
I remember getting a bed bath by an NHS nurse when i was a kid in for an operation. I was at that age when it was both disturbing and slightly erotic at the same time.

Yes I will send you a pm.pedros wrote:Good, my place is quite a bit further past the airport. Is a 'walk in'service also available?jackrossi wrote:The main lab is located is Kakab, nearby the airport.pedros wrote:Great idea. Where is the lab?
Regarding the collaboration with clinics and pharmacies we do that already of course.
I will promptly send you a male nurse for your bath with plenty of soap.spitthedog wrote:

Kachang also makes a good point, the nurse can also give IntraVenus injections in case you are dehydrated so if I will proceed with this project I will take in consideration the option to have them bringing you directly the IV or "magic drips " as you call it, to you. I will consider for them to have some training regarding the use of epipens and automatic defibrillators too.

Sounds fantastic. A non medic opening a clinic for medical testing. What could go wrong?
The clinic was already existing and all the staff are highly qualified, the other shareholders are laboratory specialist and pharmacists with postgraduate degree in medical laboratory management. My wife is a highly qualified medical professional as well (even I have a personal license as a pharmacy assistant from the Cambodian ministry of health which I got studying in my free time and back in the west I used to be a red cross volunteer when I was still a student). Anyway I am just involved in the business development of the lab not in the daily operations.Just Robbed wrote:Sounds fantastic. A non medic opening a clinic for medical testing. What could go wrong?

DRIP EVENTS & BLOG We love having fun with our clients. Come hang out with us and feel your best!
I have arthritis in both wrists and need a sperm count.
Yes, nice idea, though:jackrossi wrote:hello,
recently i aquired a minority stake in a local medical laboratory, good equipment and staff but a bit of of town.
I was thinking of new ways to improve the number of clients by offering blood test/urine analysis directly at home for an affordable price saving the client the time, extra cost and stress to go to a local hospital or clinic.
The idea is simple, we have a number of registered english speaking nurses that, in case you need a check up, feel unwell or would just like to check for some specific conditions will come directly to your home, check your blood pressure and hart rate and take the necessary samples for the analysis you need. .....
When you start a "new" business, you initially make far more publicity then the profit would allow. Ie a (big) investment in future sales, based on the assumption of returning customers as well as continuous mouth-to-mouth publicity.
However, your customers aren't returning that often, maybe once in 2-5 years. And in that time your existing customers did forget you. Let alone, that consumer referrals can be expected to sustain.
This implies, the moment you stop making publicity, your sales will drop. Drop significantly.
Unless, you get referred to by doctors, schools, pharmacies, etc. And these will already have their preferred labs.
Nice idea, though I think, not sustainable. Sorry.
Find something that will continue, without you having to spent more on publicity, then the business can carry. Publicity should be an investment for growth, and without (a lot of) publicity, your business should continue to run.
ooops, wrong post

Steve Smith is innocent!
I think this is a good idea as long is there is professional supervision to prevent fuckups. My missus had Hep B in 2012, confirmed by blood tests. I had blood tests done too, miraculously I did not have it.
Wrong!!! I did have it and because treatment was delayed for years it has me almost fucked. Liver buggered and susceptible to lots of nasty stuff. A bit like HIV.
All very unprofessional by the fucking Khmers.

Sorry to hear that. From memory, testing for Hep B is not that straight forward as there are 3 separate seriologic tests to be done. If all are negative for example you are at risk and need vaccinating. If your HBsAb is positive you're immune. If your HBsAg is positive you're infected. However If your HBsAg is negative but your HBcAb is positive your status is unclear. You could well be infected and really you need to repeat the tests to confirm your status. You need someone who is pretty knowledgeable concerning HepB.crazyjohn wrote:Steve Smith is innocent!
