Best motorcycle insurance?

Whether you've got a Tico or a Lexus, a Dailim or a Harley, this is the forum to discuss transport in Cambodia. Where to buy it, how much to pay and what to do when the wheels fall off.

theft

Thats about right, bloodycheap if the moto is stolen or you kill someone.
Then again you could go to the rice cake insurance company and pay twelve dollars and get no cover at all.Better to spend twelve dollars on mangoes then.

Checked out Infinity. My new Suzki Nex would cost $138 pa. 3rd party liability, own damage and theft. The kicker is how they establish value of stolen moto. Very vague, no agreed price policy. I was told something about them going to secondhand moto shops and asking prices? Additionally, when calculating my premium they asked me the price I paid new to use to make the calculation - so effectively I would be paying the new price premium for a secondhand value payout if it was stolen. I also would have a 1st 10% excess to self fund. I will be self insuring with a $20 alarm and a well hidden immobiliser switch.

Good luck if you kill or injure someone.

It is a 110cc step through scooter I ride around BKK and TTP. I think I will be the one more likely to die or be injured for which happily I have full expat medical insurance including Medvac and return of remains. When I am in the mood for killing and maiming innocent women and children I take out my V6 Montero which is fully insured. So no worries mate she'll be right!

You just keep your eye on those corrupt Asians with $5 mil trying to get into Oz and putting themselves at risk of coming under Oz's extra-territorial laws. See you on the Fairfax Ltd comments pages.

Again, any updates?

Would like to buy a Honda 250 nighthawk and have insurance. I don't want to get a small accident and have ridiculous claims because I am a westerner. I hate insurances, but that one i'll take.

Forte has very reasonably priced bike insurance. You'll need to get a Cambodian license, obviously.

Nighthawks have the 'Honda tax' here, way overpriced for old clapped out dogs with dodgy wiring.

I quite like them, They sell for 800-1000$ which seems to be a nice price. and suggestions for a simular bike?
250 seems to be nice. A little extra power over 110 and not a race machine to get killed. I am not a racer! I like to stay alive,
Of course i'll get my cambodian drivers licence. I do have a european motorcycle license now.

They're all close to $2k here, 20 years old, and mostly ridden by sangkat cops who can't afford a PCX150.

A low km CB400s import from Japan goes for around $3000 and as they're fresh imports you can register them in your name.

Back at the 250cc level, a Suzuki Volty if you can handle the ugly, or the TU250GB Grasstracker are common and usually cheaper than older nighthawks.

I used to use caminco insurance for various bigger bikes (F800GS, KTM 500 EXC and Triumph scrambler 900) and they were all under the $100 mark but third party only
