Good Moto Helmets
Any update on this? I'd appreciate a helmet that's just black so it doesn't stick out of the masses of cheap helmets but it should be safe. I've been to rider and to agu but there helmets are way too colorful. The only black ones there were no full face helmets and I'd very numb have some protection for my chin in case I do a face plant.

I bought a relatively cheap but new helmet off Amazon courtesy of the old folks home in the UK. Postage cost to Cambodia was more expensive than the helmet ($110 all in in think), but good to know my noggin has proper safety standard device keeping all those brains in place. I only ride in PP, so barely above 60kmh at any time, more likely 20kmh, so I didn't go for a super expensive "survive even if you crash at Valentino Rossi speed" types. I'm sure proper bikers will chip in on what to buy for such delightful cow dodging trips along the national roads, not my cup of tea.
What will pain you is when you leave your nice new helmet on your bike, only to find that some moto parking guy moved your bike 20cm to the left and dropped the helmet on its visor to leave a really irritating scratch mark. Wankers.

I have to admit that a few weeks ago I lost it with the moto park/guard outside Chaplins Bar for doing that, actually cracking the visor in two in his bumbling.Spigzy wrote: ... What really ground my gears though was after I had struggled moving two other motos out of the way to extract my own moto (and broken helmet) he then plodded over and stuck his hand out for a tip !!?!
At which point I showed him the broken visor and held my hand out, he just shrugged and giggled (and continued to hold his hand out)
I then reiterated that he should pay for the damage that he had done. The response to which was more shrugging and 'ot loy'.
I might have used a few bad words after that.

I jut googled sth. along the lines of "good helmet" Phnom Penh and this old 440 thread popped up among the first search results. And well. It sums up what I am looking for quite well so I guessed reviving this is as good as reviving any other old thread on the topic.Playboy wrote:I imagine that in the six years after the last post on this thread that a few things have changed- awaiting any updates with anticipation ...aem wrote:Any update on this? on topic: I think I will give this place a go: https://goo.gl/maps/BERnhF19SDp Looks like they have plenty of helmets from Thailand/Vietnam etc. Might not be super safe but at least better than the ones they sell for 10bucks at the side of the road?

I used to wrap the strap around the right hand mirror once and buckle it. Never dropped the helmet, and it stops the clowns from doing it too.
Take it with you - mine was even strapped to the handlebars and the plonker tried to untangle it & then dropped it in his confusion about how to unhook it.YaTingPom wrote:If you care about your helmet you either take it with you or strap it to the handlebars.
Mines never fallen off in 12 months.
Love the new avatar btw
