Hi.
Is anyone aware of any significant delays in work permit applications? Applied for mine back in early March through an agency who have been telling me ever since that there's a delay in the system.
They even put an official looking letter from the ministry (in Khmer) on their FB page, supposedly making everyone aware of the delay in the system, but when I asked my Khmer friend to translate it, it was just telling people that they needed to apply for their work permit before May 31.
I called the FWCMS this morning, who told me there is no delay that they're aware of regarding the issuing of work permits.
I have put all of this to the agency in question, who are still trying every trick to fob me off. I'm very close to naming and shaming them but they still have $460 of my money so I'm treading carefully for now.
So back to the original question, anyone else aware of any delays regarding work permit applications? A quick Google search tells me no, but worth asking anyway.
Thanks in advance.
Work Permit Delays?
I actually just talked with the hr at my work this afternoon and they basically told me the same thing. Lots of applications have been held up, but, he also let it slip that he forgot to send mine in at first, so, not sure how much of either is affecting the hold up. Originally, we sent in the applications the 2nd week of January, not sure when mine was actually sent in.
Thanks for the replies. Interesting that it only took 8 days, a week after KNY.
My main worry is the May 31 deadline. I have a receipt from the agency that I paid them the money to apply for a work permit, but no actual proof that the work permit was then applied for. When I phoned the FWCMS, I asked if they could check for me that the application was in process, and was told that they don't divulge that over the phone. I'd have to go into the office personally. - Anyone know where the office is?
What happens if May 31 comes and goes and still no work permit? I guess the receipt from the agency won't be worth the paper it's printed on?

The first work permit I got here was applied for in January and took so long to process that by the time I got it it only had a couple of months till expiration. They haven't taken anything like that long since, but it's a fairly convoluted process and can easily be delayed if one step in the chain isn't quite right. If you have some paperwork to show you have applied for one and it's in the pipeline that should suffice. They would have to be official/ ministry documents though, not a receipt from some travel agent/ motorbike hire place.
