Turn out looking low
Turn out looking low
Just went for a drive past 3 local stations which were rammed in previous elections, all 3 dead, the longest queue maybe 12 people (same place was a couple of hundred for commune elections). This is a CPP zone too, I'd imagine the old Rainsy heartlands in the northwest will be even more empty.
Any reports from other areas?

Phnom Penh seems quiet.
Drove past one centre and it seems to have much fewer people than before.
I’m travelling across town in a Tuktuk now and counting inky fingers at each stop. Many, many more clean index fingers than only. Appreciate that it’s only 10.30 but Khmer folk like to get things done early.

Just called up to mrs who is working out at another station. 250 people have turned up since they opened at dawn.

From the people who have voted in my family, all have said that the voting stations were much, much quieter than in the past (mainly in Phnom Penh). Seen a few Twitter posts indicating the same, some polling stations seemed almost deserted. Anecdotally, many of the people that I've spoken to this week said they were not going to vote.

Give the reporters time to count crowd numbers. We'll probably hear it was the largest turn out in decades.

Sounds like some of the garment factories are doing thisMiguelito wrote:I’m surprised they didn’t make it a requirement to vote to get the days off. Show up to wrk with an inked finger or else the time off was unpaid.

Not so clever by Google in a list of province names. It should be Preah Vihear province
