Assange 'may' walk out the embassy later
I wonder if Nirvana would vote for her/he/it/whatever today's approved title is.

not quite the way it's described here...Harold wrote:If that was the extent of the torture, then I retract my previous statement. I should do more research into the matter.
Manning is also detained under a Prevention of Injury (POI) assignment, despite a recommendation from his official military psychiatrist that this is not necessary
https://www.amnestyusa.org/inhumane-tre ... y-manning/There have been no formal reasons given for Manning’s maximum custody and POI status, yet his lawyers’ attempts to challenge the restrictions have been ignored by the authorities
The punishment of Bradley Manning goes directly against the Uniform Code of Military Justice’s own laws, namely Section 813 article 13, which basically states, “No punishment before trial.” This law was obviously broken. People in this country are entitled to a “speedy trial,” which is normally between 100 and 120 days from the date of the crime. Bradley Manning has been incarcerated for more than 1,000 days before his trial has begun and even a United Nations investigation confirmed that Manning was being held in inhumane conditions that was tantamount to torture
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/graham-n ... 76003.htmlAn internal investigation by the Marine Corps, which operates the prison in which Manning was being held, stated that Manning’s jailers violated their own policies in imposing oppressive conditions.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions ... 048508e074The episodes of forced nudity are particularly disturbing. In both instances, nudity was imposed after, according to Mr. Manning, he had run-ins with brig personnel, leading to questions about whether it was payback for mouthing off. And Mr. Manning’s treatment comes uncomfortably close to the kind of intimidating and humiliating tactics disavowed after the abuses at the Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo prisons that eroded the country’s standing in the world
with the assange thing i don't know why they didn't go to challenge the bail thing straight after the swedes dropped their case last year...
i hope he walks free on the 6th and continues to expose the bullshit and war mongering...no doubt from his refuge in ecuador...
He's been in his room 35 years...time to let him out!

I think the word ''torture'' is nonsense isn't it?
My bet is that they just tore him a new asshole. But that's no problem as by the sounds of it they might have paid for the freshly new torn vagina?

What a wanker, he’s still cowered away in their embassy, but is now suing the Ecuador government. The embassy has also given him a list of house rules, which include cleaning up after his cat if he wants to keep it.
Julian Assange is to launch legal action against the government of Ecuador, accusing it of violating his "fundamental rights and freedoms".

Bit harsh aye?Miguelito wrote:What a wanker, he’s still cowered away in their embassy...
https://justice4assange.com/Since 28 March 2018, the government of Ecuador has imposed a regime of isolation on Assange, which means that he may receive no visitors other than his lawyers, and is kept incommunicado from friends and family through the government’s installation of signal jammers which interfere with wifi and phone signals. The government has also imposed a gag on any public statements and interviews.
The situation is grave. Former President Rafael Correa, who decided to grant Assange asylum in 2012, has described his treatment by the current government as "torture".
Human Rights Watch’s General Counsel, Dinah PoKempner, to whom Ecuador refused access to Assange wrote that Assange’s asylum "looks more and more like solitary confinement->https://twitter.com/DinahPoKempner/...] and Human Rights Watch has called on the UK to issue an assurance that it will not extradite Assange to the US as a way to resolve the situation.
The government has falsely claimed that Assange had agreed to restrict his freedom of speech.
The government has falsely stated that his protection from political persecution is contingent on his censorship. There is no legal basis for this claim, and in fact, the interference with his basic rights that has been imposed violates both the Ecuadorian Consitution and binding international legal instruments.
In practice, Mr. Assange’s continued protection depends on Ecuador’s competing interests of complying with existing legal commitments to protect Assange on the one hand and its changing political and economic priorities, on the other.

I haven't been following this all that closely, but has the UK had someone stationed right outside the embassy exit 24/7 ready to arrest Assange ever since he went in? Do they check every car leaving the embassy? Why doesn't he just sneak out?
Follow my lame Twitter feed: @gavin_mac
Yes, 24/7 and not only 1 policeman outside but 2, the second being on a rooftop. There is even a 3rd, he is inside the same building where the embassy is situated. Presently, if Assange were to walk out, he would instantly be arrested for previously breaching bail conditions. That may change in the near future though.gavinmac wrote:I haven't been following this all that closely, but has the UK had someone stationed right outside the embassy exit 24/7 ready to arrest Assange ever since he went in? He must be so freaking about the possibility of being sent to the US.

If the Equatorians are so fed up with him why don't they just throw him out?

So this tool moves a cat into the embassy then loses his internet privilages. Apparently he responds by neglecting his litter box duties. He is then outed to the cat community, his internet's now restricted and the cat is halfway to kitty death row. Someones on double secret probation...

He's been under house arrest for nearly eight years though, so I bet he's lost his marbles several times. What he's going through can't be fun. I don't think he deserves it, either. He should be a free man.
His confinement to a room that used to be a bathroom would give anyone cabin fever/going crackers etc... He is no longer allowed visitors, aside from lawyers, and wifi off the menu too.shehasnoballs wrote:He's been under house arrest for nearly eight years though, so I bet he's lost his marbles several times. He should be a free man, you say? He is free to leave any time he wants. What happens to him after that is up to the big guns who find him so threatening. Would be good for his health if he found his long lost nut sack and just walked out.
Don't think that is part of the Equation. If the Equatorians are so fed up with him why don't they just throw him out?

Julian Assange is very fucking far from being Nelson Mandella. My sympathies are with the cat and the embassy workers. Sorry, not sorry.
