Maybe writing some details about your project would not hurt if you are looking for funds.
I worked with many startups here, including sourcing funds and investors, if you are serious at the very least you must prepare a good presentation that explains why someone should invest their money in you.

I've financed a couple of ventures as well, but I know the partners very well and have access to the books and could pull the plug if necessary
- one 2nd hand car import business. We had just gotten started with 2 cars sold and another 3 in the pipeline. Collaborating with a local garage to fix them up and split the margin. Gross margin around 2k/car after repairs. But the recent hike in import duties put that business on hold.
- Korean cosmetics imports, sold in bulk on FB. Stopped after 3 months as it was too time consuming and not worth the hassle despite hefty margins.
- a micro finance business for loans of 500 to 10k. Properly registered and accredited. Started about 15 months ago and doing very well. All loans secured by titles on local assets. So far self-funded but we could use more capital, so looking for passive investors seeking a return of 9% nett in USD.

What about that dying expat forum you invested in? Hasn't the value of your shares tanked of late?logos wrote:I've financed a couple of ventures as well, but I know the partners very well and have access to the books and could pull the plug if necessary

Well it turned out to be more of a lifestyle choice than a real business ...even though I can't complain about the returns.tombraider wrote:What about that dying expat forum you invested in? Cosmetics are a pain in the arse as things stand now IMHO.
Very easy to import small amounts and sell them online, even large amounts of they are from thailand Vietnam or China but as soon as you want to operate legally the ministry of health begins require you to test and register everything and it takes forever even paying extra.
The paperwork is really a pain not because is hard but it's just so goddamn slow and requires a dozen trips to different offices.
Of course you have to continually push them to get their job done even if the product already has Certificates and all sort of tests already done on it.
They seem to really push people to don't bother paying taxes so that they don't have to work.
As if they actually do any test besides taking your money and giving your samples to their wifes.
At least with medical products and medical drugs you go through a rather complex procedure but you have a good profit margin and you don't have a million competitors selling similar stuff tax free.
Of course if you want to actually follow the law you are probably in the less than 10% that actually pay taxes on sale of cosmetics and unless you have an exclusive people can sell the same product tax free in smaller amounts.
And even less people bother informing the ministry of health for every new product they import, since if you don't apparently you can pay the tax on sale but won't bother doing any cross control between ministries.
This system is quite ridiculously screaming at you to don't bother operating legally unless you have to.
May I know the name of your microfinance? If you have your financial data available to the public send me a pm please I would like to give a look.
