How do you stay healthy?
How many coffees a day is healthy? I think 5 espressos in a day would be perfect. That sounds a lot, but a typical large American drip coffee has wayyy more caffeine.

Eat healthy and minimum 12 hours/day of zero calorie intake to give your system a rest.
I've gotten some weight off still more to go. I bike ride and throw some weights around, in the west I add in some basketball shooting to break a sweat.
I am also 2 months in to a 6 month preiod of non-drinking. I had done this kind of thing before - no drinking for 3 month spurts, but this time I ramped it up to 6 months. My intent now is to make it an annual thing where I abstain completely for 3-6 months every year in the fall/winter months.
I have done a couple of events where I was the only non-drinker, have more coming up in December. I enjoy how much it annoys the drinkers that I am at the bar with them drinking a water

My one vice I can not break, beer. The longest I have managed since trying was the 8 weeks and four days when I was cycling through Malaysia the first time, second time in Malaysia I failed miserably as I had found out where the cheap(er) beer was, third time lasted three weeks in Malaysia and then got a ferry to Indonesia where the beer is better and even more expensive, stupid I konw. No discipline at all.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

Today is day five for me with no drinks. The previous record (from a time of off shore sailing) has been tied, but moral is currently down. Boredom is up, as are the numbers off coffees throughout the day and soda waters.
I feel people are looking at me strangely, and I must recluse myself to my house after 5 PM.
Two more days to go to reach a week, and I’m not sure how I’ll make it past a Friday and Saturday night. It’s like reaching the 32nd km of a marathon, the end is getting nearer, but then a storm is fast approaching with icy cold rains.
The mention of cold rains remind me of the cold Heinekens being passed around earlier, which I abstained from, although every clink of the bottles I twinged just a bit, knowing how refreshing it would be.
I can make it, but is it worth it?

You've made it 2 months, that is not a bad stretch. With your cycling you are ahead of the curve anyway.horace wrote:GMJS-440 wrote:I've gotten some weight off still more to go. I bike ride and throw some weights around, in the west I add in some basketball shooting to break a sweat.

Lifestyle is a big difference. I made it through 3 months off drinking in my 20's before, was still in bars every weekend but not drinking. Had 1 friend join me so at least had someone to commiserate with.
Now I have a family and my wife will deliver our second in February. I have much less idle time so the 6 months is less of a challenge. Definitely a challenge though, I miss a cold beer Friday after work.

The goal of 1 week does seem rather agressive for you. In fact you sound like you are feeling it right about now, your body is so accustomed to the alcohol that drunk is the new sober for you.Miguelito wrote:Today is day five for me with no drinks. Now quitting smoking, that was a real bitch. Of course I needed to stop drinking as well for a few months in order to have a chance with the smoking. Those withdrawals were intense, but pushed through and came back to drink a few months later without smoking.
