I wrote the post quite quickly during a bit of a bender.
Here are some more postives; the sky at night is the best I have seen in a very long time, there are also an amazing number of birds of prey flying about in the skies during the day, there also seems to be absolutely no British backpackers. They are nearly all French, Spanish and Italian or hail from other S American countries, neither do there seem to be any sex touriss.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Removed comment after realizing it was Colombia and not Cambodia that was talked about. Keeping an eye on details would have prevented embarrassment

Does that make you feel safer or not so much? The men with guns on all the street corners, at the hotels and bars and the such, actually makes me feel safer.horace wrote: And the only thing that is everywhere are the police and army checkpoints.
Surprised you can't find any good coffee. They've actually recently opened up Juan Valdez Cafes in Kuala Lumpur, surprisingly enough. Get a cup there when you're back in Bogota.

Westerners n tourists get robbed quite often everywhere even in London!
The only time I have ever been burgled was in PP way back in early 2000s. I have never been a victim of street crime other than the odd drug buying scam one of which involved window panes in London in 1989 and the other in Laos a year or two ago buying puff. Both times small deals not bank busting scams. However, I have had guns put to my head in Puerto Rico and Outback Mexico during larger deals and both times it was a case of see how the cunt acts, ad repeat business was conducted quite a few times thereafter.
" Walk tall, walk straight and look the world right in the eye "" is probably the best advice for any tourist anywhere in the world, along with " don't wander down dark alleys with complete strangers on yer own " .
I actually had two coppers on a motorbike pull up in Riohacha and indicate with a slit throat gesture that the area I was in was not a good area to be in and forced me to turn around. Fuckers, why did they I was there?
PS , I ain't as worldy wise or knowledgeable about everything and when I don't know something I tell people. I can't be arsed googling Black Widow Scam and it is more interesting and perhaps thread lenghtening to be informed by someone more enlightened. Hpoefully a few true tales may come to light concerning this scam, but more likely it will be derailed by Dipshit crazy in one of his/ her fantasy mood swings.

I have never really felt unsafe anywhere on my travels, although I must admit that when I biked around Bogota and went into the areas around directly around the old town, which I would call The escape from Bogota " areas I was at unease. Very poor , lots of drugged out Zombies, lots of down n outs and very derelict. Broken glass and smashed stuff everywhere.

Black widow scam is where a lady comes to your room for a drink then puts drugs in your drink and robs you.horace wrote:Westerners n tourists get robbed quite often everywhere even in London!

If one wants to head to a place where you get left alone and no one speaks english where the women have nice tits/bods, with loads of spicy food - then head to Vietnam.
It's much closer than Colombia.
Life is cheap in S America. Tourists are generally looked after in Asia.

Whenever I spend a few weeks in Europe, I eat like crazy and very well, but definitely miss any real spice. At least in America they’re addicted to Tabasco and sriracha.

Yeah, same here with needing spicy food. My girlfriend mostly cooks thai food so we eat alot of Nam phriks, steamed fish with nam jin seafood etc.Miguelito wrote:Loads of spicy food in Vietnam?spitthedog wrote:If one wants to head to a place where you get left alone and no one speaks english where the women have nice tits/bods, with loads of spicy food - then head to Vietnam.

I think Vietnam food is famous for its sweetness with chili dips, but i guess i also found i liked the sublety of Viet food compared to full on heat thai food.
I dont enjoy thai food as much if its not real spicy.
