I going back to pp soon and was wondering what the story was about ebikes. I cant find much info online except a few useless facebook pages that dont sell anything. My wife and I want a beach cruiser style bike with fatter tyres but all ive seen are used ones from Japan with no batteries and some weird chinese things with pedals as an afterthought. Is there anything else available like this?

ebikes in phnom penh?
I built mine about 6 months ago and have been riding it ever since
You won't find anything here in PP to my knowledge. There is a place in Siem Reap that have electric motorbikes but that is it.
There is a place in Thailand making and selling kits as well as completed bikes at competitive prices you won't be able to fly with the batteries so if you go that route return by bus with your bike boxed up and the battery in your carry on bag. Search Thailand ebikes in facebook to find them here is one of their bikes looks like you would want the single motor bike like this

Cheers mate however I am on the other side of the country near the vietnam border. Your gt looks nice is that a dual battery or is the rear compartment the motor controller? How much was your setup?
Yes that is the controller in the smaller box.
The bike was $300. new from Flying Bikes in Phnom Penh.
The motor kit was ~$300 including shipping 48v 1000w everything but the battery
The battery was ~$420 48v 11 Ah
So a little over $1000 all in.
The speed is 47km/h (gps verified) with ~30 km range no pedaling just throttle. It also has PAS (pedal assist) with 5 settings via KT-LCD3 display, also has regen braking and cruise control etc.

Good deal beaker too bad its not available locally. Customs screwed me over last time so i have a really sour experience and hate ordering things otherwise id consider it.
I didnt find anything yesterday that was any good. Best I saw was an older yamaha pedal assist but no option for standalone power. $300 and the nicd battery worked but was in unknown condition for range.

I bought the bike locally and built my own as it is a problem with customs. The company I tried to order a bike from said it would not be a problem but as they looked into it they said the only way they could do it was to take the bike apart and ship part separately and even then couldn't guarantee no customs fees.
I had no problems what so ever with customs when I ordered my kit. It was shipped via DHL and only took 4days after it was shipped. The battery could not go via DHL because it was considered hazardous it took about 3 weeks to arrive but no problems and no customs fees.
This is the company that I used webpage ---> http://www.btn-ebike.com/index.asp
If you want to order from them and would like the contact person I used let me know she has excellent English and answered all my many questions

How long does the battery take to charge and did that also ship from BTN in China ?
If so, was it by sea due to hazardous material ?
Yes the battery was also from the same place but I'm not sure how it was shipped.offroadscholar wrote:Nicely done and good info.Beaker wrote:I bought the bike locally and built my own as it is a problem with customs. I don't know for sure how long it takes to charge when fully discharged left it overnight for the first charge as instructed. I don't run it down that low usually charge when half discharged or before and don't watch it that closely when I do but it is charged withing 4 hrs. There are chargers that put out more amperage and will charge faster
You contact the company by email for the latest prices once you have an idea what you want here is who I talked to via email great english nice lady---> [email protected]
