A lengthy news article came out about a 27 year old deportee, Sophorn San, sent here in December that died in a moto accident in February.
Cambodian immigrant’s deportation ends in tragedy for R.I. family
Although any death is tragic, especially a death of one's child, I'm not sure I support the narrative that he was a Cambodian refugee from a genocide. He was born in Phnom Penh in 1991, and moved to Rhode Island in 1996 after his family obtained legal residency through sponsorship.
It's a lengthy article with a video. Of course there are undertones against the Trump administration, but the 1996 law was passed under Clinton, don't forget.

Traffic is a real big killer, much more than any war going on these days.
40.000 deadly accidents a year in the US alone. And traffic here is not like in the US,
it takes time to get used to. Perhaps that is partly to blame for this unfortunate incident.
I fail to see that it has anything to do with his deportation from the US, however frustrating
that might be for the family..

That guy and a gang of them lived down the steet from me. All in the same place. They spent most of their time standing around the soi drinking cans of beer, smoking joints and practicing their dance moves to that rap crap.

It's of course sad but the article is really milking the Vietnam War/ Cambodian Genocide thing. Things were of course a lot different in 1996, but Phnom Penh was relatively safe compared to other provinces.Miguelito wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 9:33 amAlthough any death is tragic, especially a death of one's child, I'm not sure I support the narrative that he was a Cambodian refugee from a genocide. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I found this part telling, from your link:Miguelito wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 9:33 amA lengthy news article came out about a 27 year old deportee, Sophorn San, sent here in December that died in a moto accident in February.

"San’s removal from the U.S. was part of a 279-percent increase in deportations of Cambodians between fiscal years 2017 and 2018, according to ICE, after the Cambodian government bowed to pressure from the U.S. following a dispute between the two governments over the amount of money paid to Cambodia per deportee.
“On September 13, 2017, DHS announced the implementation of visa sanctions on Cambodia due to a lack of historical cooperation with regard to accepting their nationals who have been ordered removed,” ICE spokesman Brendan Raedy said in response to a request by The Journal. Similar sanctions were applied to Eritrea, Guinea and Sierra Leone."
That aside, playing the refugee card here is disengenous as part of the narrative. A sad story and my sympathies for all involved
Freedom is not a state. It is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau.. Freedom is a continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society.-John Lewis
