Cricket World Cup 2019
It's here, at last!
Of course, England are the favourites, given home advantage and form over the last few years,
But, they always seem to find a way to blow it; recent warm-up games, involving Australia, India, New Zealand, West Indies and others have pointed to ... a very open tournament.
I regard both NZ and W. Indies as 'dark horses' (no racist jokes, please!)
And recent warm-up games have thrown a whole tool-box of spanners-in-the-works!
So, who will win it?
Will SA (sorry, vlad!) choke again?
I'm English, so I think we will win it for the first time. But, Australia always seem to stand up against us.
Bangladesh are , currently (28th May - 9PM), doing OK against India, while WI v NZ looks a cracker.
Oh, I'm so confused, but reckon England should win.
Should be a great tournament.
Any thoughts?

Not much between the top teams, so it's what happens on the day.

After losing Bairstow for a duck, England were chugging along quite nicely until JJ Roy just now top-edged.
OMG! Root has gone as well! What did I say in the OP about Saffers choking?
It's coming back to haunt me!

England comfortably dispatch SA with quality bowl and field.springrain wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 5:58 pmAfter losing Bairstow for a duck, England were chugging along quite nicely until JJ Roy just now top-edged.

Stokes shows how to make a catch when caught out of position, wow! He really is the quintessent all-rounder; 2 wickets, 2 catches and 89 runs, ergo man of the match.
Pure class, that is.

Was on at All sports bar too (st 172 near pontoon).
I agree. Cricket is 'on the day' . unlike rugby, for an example, when one has a fairer idea about the result. Im looking forward to a big upset in this CWC.
England are already in danger,.peaking too fast.

They've been peaking for the past two years, mate!
Yep, kinard, Windies with a great bowling effort. Having Gayle & Hope to open the batting - lucky them!
Oh, btw, here's Stokes's great catch (and other stuff)

NZ have just skittled Sri Lanka for 136. The Sri Lankan captain, Karunaratne, has carried his bat for 52 - only the second time in WC history that that has been done.
Later: NZ trounce Lankans by 10 wickets!
Aussies v Afghanistan starting soon.
Update: Afghans started badly, but putting together a bit of a partnership. I'd imagine they'd be overwhelmed after a bit of a show.
