I'll give you $50 to babysit my computer monitor
HI everyone --
I have to leave town for a couple weeks, and I don't want to lug my flatscreen computer monitor with me. (It's currently with my in my hotel room in Phnom Penh).
I'd love to find a temporary, 2-week home for it somewhere around Riverside (or anywhere nearby). If anyone has a corner of their apartment I can stick it in for 2 weeks, I'd be happy to pay you $50 to keep it safe.
Thanks.
EDIT: THANKS EVERYONE. THE MONITOR HAS FOUND A TEMPORARY HOME.

never done it but how about a pawn shop, i figure you would get it out for far less than $50 cost. dont know how they work just seen them may places. major benefit would be not having to deal with the ""scum", asshats" and "conts", etc. on here

another option and one that i use myself is to ask the GH, HOTEL RECEPTIONIST/OWNER IF THE CAN HOLD IT FOR YOU SOMEWHERE. actually have an external monitor so located myself. benefit for them is i see it as a usable monitor should any of their security monitor go down for any reason. mine being held long term at no cost to me.
another plus for them being you have to come back and then perhaps stay

$50??? That's a shitload of money in Cambodia. People will be tripping over themselves to take you up on this deal.

I'll bet the Alamo Cafe Owner will take it, his place is already half full of computer equipment.

yes thats right me and gavinmac are not people, just purely computer generated trolls
Anyone who is prepared to pay $50 will surely be able to pay $75.

Interesting how someone asks anyone who they don't know to take care of their valuable monitor. What trust does the OP have in that person? will they have to provide a deposit? will the monitor be in a suitcase picked up by someone else? I smell a rat.

Sure, if it was a known poster I'd take care of it for free, but I'm not about to give just any stranger my address.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Thank you for your concern Monsieur Poirot.
1) I trust no one.
2) It's not a "valuable monitor" (assumption #1). It's 9 years old and it has a market value of probably around $100. If you want to steal it from me, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Still... I'd rather not lose it to theft. Which is why I'm offering $50 to store it. My thinking is that it's frankly much easier to take a $50 storage fee than it would be to steal it and hustle it on the market for $100.
3) No, it's not in a "suitcase" (assumption #2). It's a monitor. You can inspect it. There's not much to it. It's a rather unspecial monitor with a crack in the screen.
4) I'll be picking it up myself (assumption #3).
That's quite an elaborate scam you've come up with there. I'm surprised you didn't suggest it could be an creatively concealed explosive device designed to blow up some random expat's living room.
To be clear:
* It's a computer monitor. It's not new and it's definitely not worth a lot.
* It's 2 weeks of time
* It's 50 bucks.
Sometimes the world is as it seems.

Yeah, I hear you. But it's only an odd request because PP doesn't have lockers like Bangkok, HCMC and other cities. If you need to stash anything for a week or two, you're basically out of luck here. And my misfortune is staying in a Chinese hotel which has a level of service and understanding which makes zero sound like a big number.
I'd be happy to stash it in anyone's bar or cafe if that makes it somehow less sketchy.
So much for the earlier posters who said at $50 I'd be inundated with requests. You guys all seem a bit traumatized. Is it that bad out there?

Why are you still asking when Roz (ToF) has already said she will look after it for you for free?senechal wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 6:59 pm
