Where to move in SEA
Where to move in SEA
Nostalgia aside, personal relationships aside, if you had to do it all over again, and were a complete SEA virgin, where would you move?
Or, states differently, if you had a younger Westerner ask you for advice, which SEA country would you recommend is the best to move to? Take into consideration possibilities for work, living conditions, women, etc.

I'd only move for the women and living conditions if I was well off already. Being broke or penny pinching in SEA isn't a good move. Southern/Eastern Europe has a similar cost of living and way better living conditions.

It depends on many things... What do you want out of life? Do you have money to invest in a business? There aren't really many good job opportunities. Every country has a little something different for everyone. Overall, after visiting almost every country is SEA, I prefer Cambodia way over everywhere else. The people tend to be the most friendly and welcoming to foreigners here.
Let’s say you were financially comfortable - a savings in the bank to hold you over and/or invest in something small, but would eventually need an income stream.

Depends on many things.
How much $$ do you have?
Do you prefer City, Town, Beach?
How old are you?
Looking for work?
What are your interests?
There is no one, "best for all place"

I answered a lot of that. Jeeze, it’s just a hypothetical.over the rainbow wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 8:52 amDepends on many things.

Myanmar is gonna be the next big thing.
Tourism is in its infancy there so relatively speaking they greet you with open arms.

Yeah, 2 tier pricing for accomodation for foreigners, but if they have any sense that will also improve and then they can really start competing with Thailand.over the rainbow wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 9:05 amgoing to be?? been traveling there a few times/year for past 4 yearsspitthedog wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 8:22 pmMyanmar is gonna be the next big thing.

Sure, that's what happens when a country is controlled by a military junta for 60 years who didn't allow access to any of their war zones or semi-official warlord-run narco-enclaves and kept the rest of the population under an iron fist.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

After cycling through the whole country you realize that relatively speaking, there is nothing to fear.
