Where to buy a cyclo
Lots of DIY cargo style bikes in different configurations that would be better designs than the cyclos IMHO

Very nice, I imagine not cheap, though.the_purple_turtle wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 5:50 amE bikes are not going away. All the big brands have invested in models with high quality motors and components that can be ridden hard. Canyon for example:
Personally I prefer my own pedal power, but I certainly see the attraction.

Seeing a tourist’s face this morning while her cyclo driver entered the independence monument roundabout was priceless.

This is the bike I ride here in the KOW 1000w 48v does 47km/h without pedaling on the flat.
Nice power there Beaker.
This is the 250w bike I have back in Aus and these are the crap state laws regarding them;
In Australia it is illegal to ride an electric bicycle on road or bike paths with a stated power output of more than 200w without a pedal assist system, or 250w with a pedal assist system. The latter is also required to only have a pedal assist, and limited to do 6km/h via a throttle or cruise control mechanism. In both cases the motor must be speed limited to 25km/h. If you are riding off road however, there are no limits.
So basically you will need a licence and road rego for over 250w.
Never mind.
No just a sticker saying 250w on the motor,they have no way of testing the power.RainMan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 9:19 am

If authorities get serious or you are involved in an accident they can look up the model on line and get all the info. The manual on mine explains how to get full throttle power by just disconnecting 2 wires which will give it a mind blowing top speed of 25 kph without peddling, fk, big deal. But yea, if they have no way of testing it properly they are wasting their time if you aren't breaking any speed limits I would guess.
Never mind.
To learn more about ebikes : http://www.ebikeschool.com/discover/learn/
The proper way to calculate a ebike wattage is the battery voltage times the controller amperage.
i.e. my bike has a 1000w rated motor the battery is 48v and the controller is 20A so;
48 x 20 = 960 my bike is 960w as it is configured now.
I could easily change that with a higher voltage battery like 60v x 20A = 1200w or new controller 48V x 40A=1920w or by changing both 60V x 40A= 2400w.

Mine are not shop bought thy are home built,so there is no way they can tell the power apart from a couple of bought stickers stating 250w,when one is 1000w and the other just shy of 2000w.
Most ebikes have a watt meter mounted right on the bike. The display will also tell the cops what your highest speed ever was, which could also be problematic when they start enforcing the laws.andy1 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 6:17 pmDo you see the police(at the moment)with watt meters?
It is not that simple as even the legal 250w shop bought bikes will exceed 250w for a period.
