back around 20 years i was walking past some gold shops & popped in to ask how much a troy oz of gold.
it was well under usd300
the gold shops owners were shitting themselves & you could barter with them.
then 911 ocurred.
how much is that same troy oz today? around 500% higher.
try bartering with them today

Fair enough, mate! I was just commenting on the fact that what was happening with gold wasn't technically a bull run.maxx wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 10:17 am@springrain

The Fed has announced a small cut in interest rates.
A 200 point rise in the DJIA, a 15 point drop in gold and the GBP/USD pair little changed has ensued.
I think of more interest is the fact that the FROMC was divided and that we keep hearing about global economic uncertainty.

USD has improved against the Japanese Yen and even the Euro a bit. I guess it had not peaked....springrain wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 5:15 amThe Fed has announced a small cut in interest rates.

Indeed.
My personal market philosophy is that there is no such thing as a saturated market; peaks & troughs only can be seen in retrospect, so I doubt whether the USD has 'peaked'.
It is a bit like searching for Prime Numbers - there is always a higher (or lower) level to sink to or exceed.

I think that China is playing longball and it is just now beginning to dawn on the Trump admin what they are up against. Running big deficts (while being underwater politicaly in an election year) will see China wait things out for a more favorable administration.
With our debt piling up it's just a matter of time before we start printing money(quanatative easing) to pay for some debt. Dollar always falls when that happens.

Freedom is not a state. It is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau.. Freedom is a continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society.-John Lewis

We are seeing Gold inch up - I'd imagine that is to do with Iran/Saudi tensions in Geo-Political movement.
It all seems to be a bit of: hold tight and see what transpires at the moment. There's also the looming spectre of possible Impeachment against the Pres' for the umpteenth time.
Best watched for the time being, but be prepared for a sudden wrench, I reckon.
