What does it mean to be the fittest/strongest when we speak of survival?

Dallows,
I remember you chasing 'Telesales' or some other - I forget which, now. It was before you became the Chief Whip or whatever.
I remember your hounding of 'Bullshit Posters.'
I remember thinking: 'That bloke is going to be a really cool poster - ever in search of justice, a cool mind, an inquisitive mind...
How I would like you to be a bit more open-minded and inquisitive, now.
For, are we not all searching for truth?
A similar feeling applies to Lucky Lucan: I really admire that bloke's knowledge of some stuff; yet, he seems completely ignorant of some, more important (in my own, humble view) stuff.
I won't bother to give examples, now. I really am that tired.
But what might seem like nonsense might, if people think enough about it, emerge with greater credence than was at first given likelihood.
Well, thanks for a good discussion - so far.

I don't know how much more open-minded and inquisitive i can be. I'm positively pleading with you to tell me your views, and to answer my questions. Isn't that the very definition of being inquisitive?springrain wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 10:38 pm

Yet you refuse to.
You have refused to today. You've refused to on dozens of occasions over the last few years. I've pressed, and you've evaded. I question, you avoid. I ask why; you say . . give me time.
It's almost like you're avoiding providing a direct answer - YOUR VIEWS - to a direct question. And that makes me wonder why.
You don't want to engage in a discussion about a subject that you felt passionate enough about to start?violet wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 10:28 pmNo. And I have no interest in butting heads with you in order to form a stronger presentation of my opinions.
You will form your opinions as to why.
The real reason is that that isn’t what lights my fire. Perhaps I am just lazy. I have never enjoyed interactions with people like you who enjoy that type of engagement. We each bring different strengths and tools to a team.
Is it because you've come to the conclusion that you're talking out of your arse. Perhaps we have got this forum thing all wrong. When people post asinine bollocks, perhaps it would better if we all agreed, patted you on the head and said: don't worry hon, it will all be ok.
Try mumsnet. It might suit your needs better.

Yeah, tell me now, who are these clandestine secretive people controlling this world? I need a name and a number, passport photo, preferably on a facebook page that I can post comments on, without liking it.
And now back to Cambodia, I'm bored.

Careful, the sheriff of Nottingham will find you, wherever you think you can hide.
Im pretty sure that there is a lot of corruption in asia.
I cant prove it. By its very nature its a cunt of a thing to prove. The chief of police and the politicians will deny it till the cows come home.
I must be in the tinfoil hat brigade for such outlandish notions.

Earlier, when fidgeting with my comb-over, I came upon the realisation that violet digs a hole faster and deeper than Le Coq.

Yes, I read your teenage ramblings. I don't think you understand mindfulness. It's not about turning off your mind in order to live in blissful ignorance. It's more about being able to control to what you put your mind and when. And in doing so maintain a rational perspective.violet wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 10:12 pmMindfulness. Did you not read my initial posts or did you throw it in here as a playful jab? Finding ways to avoid the uncomfortable questions in life is one way of choosing to get through it. It is not my way.slavedog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 7:38 pmYes, I would dismiss it in the same way. I don't think I particularly display a lot of respect to any posters on here, although there are people who post on here whom I like and respect, yourself included.
I just think that it is not healthy to get into one's thirties and certainly forties and still be thinking about these kind of abstract propositions so much that it causes one mental anguish. Such matters are best left to first year philosophy students to debate after a drunken night out.
Rather than posting on here looking for answers that don't exist, I would suggest reading some philosophy. Stoicism would be the obvious place to start.
Or some books on mindfulness, which draws from various wisdoms such as Buddhism. I'm not especially in to it myself, but people seem to be using it more and more as an antidote to the stresses of life in the modern world.
These words from the Serenity Prayer seem appropriate:
Grant to us the serenity of mind to accept that which cannot be changed;
courage to change that which can be changed,
and wisdom to know the one from the other.

So who does control much of our lives?Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 10:23 pmYou are clearly arguing that the rich and powerful elites are somehow controlling your lives
Oh, wait, it's all laissez faire and total freedom, n'est ce pas?
The rich would NEVER collaborate to make money, what an absurd notion!
And who ever thought of the rich starting wars to make money or bankers being part of it?
Tell us again how much dosh the UK made over the last few years selling arms to Saudi scum so that they can bomb school buses.
Tell us about the WMD fabrication in Iraq and the current warmongering against Iran.
Oh, wait, nobody collaborated there, it was just pure coincidence and a genuine mistake.
Just like the time before and the time before that.
You're obsessed with justifying an ultra- conservative, regulation-free capitalist agenda, simply because you make money from it and you know how it negatively affects billions of people.
It's so transparent it's laughable. Sick, but laughable.

Face recognition tech is everywhere these days. Even small business owners can install it in their shops. Mr. Kebab salesman on main street can check on their customers, if they are cops or political enemies , and likewise the local police in a small town can do a license plate scan and face scan, and compare with whatever database to make sure their town is not visited by crooks. I see those hi-def surveillance cameras everywhere now. They were installed around here in about 2012 or so down at the riverside and the airport. The 'good old days' are definitely over. In the end it makes it harder for lo-lifes and criminals more than anything else, at least. If you are just living a boring regular life as a teacher, or attorney even, no need to worry imo. Why not look at the bright side, such as how DNA evidence can help find perpetrators who would otherwise run free, and also help clear people convicted falsely of rape to get out of lengthy prison sentences.
Ok they got me cornered so I'll come clean.spitthedog wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 12:56 amViolet and Springrain,

It started with the Third Man, a shadowy figure recruited by an ubiquitous admin to use dirty tricks to spy on violet, springrain and of course Jep. Turns out powerful forces still are at work out there to get them.
Batshit was too hot to handle so it was decided by those dark powers to cage and try to restrain him.
The real masterminds now are playboy and of course Scoffer, hiding behind an elaborated veil of gross incompetence (nobody could be that bad, of course it's all an act).
