I spend so little on transportation, both time and money, I don't think it gets any cheaper. The only drawback is safety of course. Especially foreigners in large SUV's scare me.logos wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 4:41 pmBasic expenses on a paper napkin:
Rent 500 for a comfortable studio all in in a good location
Food 5 to 600 per month , say 10/day for eating out plus buying home supplies.
Transportation can be costly but you can get a bicycle or a cheap moto
Visa 300/year max
That leaves about 400 a month for other expenses. Doable if you avoid the $3 massage places with cash in your pocket.
Monthly expenses if you don't drink

Man, tried to not rise to the bait but after a day I can't restrain myself. I like to find real energy in life.Alex wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 9:46 pmWhat's in it for you in Cambodia if you neither like grog nor pussy? Couldn't you just be miserable and boring in your home country instead?ferd54 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 3:06 pmAs said "it won’t include ongoing costs of companionship, etc."batshitcrazyweirdo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 2:27 pmDepends how much pussy and travel you want. Best worry aboot pussy expenses. That'll depend on what you want. Could get very expensive. Unless you wanna get down and dirty, but that could get expensive too.
I lived in Thailand for 12 years, been there done that with the "pussy" thing too. So amazingly not all of us are still on that game ....
Could it be that you are just a miserable and boring person in Cambodia who has nothing going for them except making snide comments on a discussion board, getting drink and attempting to find solace in false paid 'relationships' -- that are actually just shallow encounters -- because the women of your home country want nothing to do with you?
Here's a stunning insight for you: That vast majority of humans on this planet are not drunks and a tiny fraction pay for sex.
But to each their own, I say,
I forgot the disclaimer: Been there, done that. Lived in Thailand for 12 years, many of those drunk as a skunk. Used to frequent Pattaya. Trained in shit-storms in online discussion for years at Thaivisa and when tossed from there moved on Teak Door.
How many times did you fail in and out of Love in them 12 years?
I had an elevator and 24 hours security building for $400 by Russian Market. 2BR and for some reason 3 bathrooms. The 1BR was $350.
Couldn’t help with the rest of budget, I like restaurants and drinks too much. And my kids are damned expensive, the little shits

My apartment is 370$ and electricity about 20$. I have aircon but using only about 1h/mth. I pay electricity to EDC (electricity company) 610R/kWh.ferd54 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 6:49 pmDon't need to live at the riverside, but do need air-con -- that would take it up to $500?raendi wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 5:19 pmI can't tell what is decent in your standard.
Secure? do you mean like guard in building?
Khmer style apartment (no guard) with electricity (only fan) 400$ at riverside.
Cooking home 200$ (50$/week).
Transportation in riverside 0$.
Insurance 100$.
Retirement visa 200$/year.
Tourist visa 450$ (75$/2mth) +travel expenses.

By secure, I mean a place that not likely to get robbed, etc.
[/quote] Then you have move condominium building, those usually have security. Or some family owned building where they live downstairs.
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
Okay, so you're just broke after 12 years whoring around in Pattaya, and instead of spitting that out prefer to paint the picture that you're now (more) enlightened. That's neither surprising nor, shall we say, very original. May you find this elusive "real energy", whatever that means.
I'm a bit shocked that you got kicked off ThaiVisa. That's almost impossible, not even I have managed that. Good to see that you are off to a great start here on K440.

I was gonna say. What stopped him drinking? No pussy? Don't believe. How is he gonna survive? Is he gonna be a hermit?
I love bitches n gonna fuck Texas and the USA+ right up their god damn ass! Hallelujah!
Just to correct a few of your false assumptions:Alex wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 11:53 amOkay, so you're just broke after 12 years whoring around in Pattaya, and instead of spitting that out prefer to paint the picture that you're now (more) enlightened. No I didn't live near Pattaya, just saying been there, done that. Now live in the West, but weary of the constant complaining by people who are lucky to have a great quality of life yet can't appreciate that.
'Real energy' comes from dealing with the real world of people doing their best in the face of hardship, appreciation of a nice sunrise and kindness to others.etc. I see you are a very positive force for all who encounter you.
I was banned by Thaivisa for continued references to the truth about the family that cannot be mentioned in Thailand, this during the Red-Yellow shirt confrontation when Taksin's party tried to take on the entrenched power ...
So let's get back to the subject: The living costs in PP for a guy who shockingly is no longer drinking himself to death.

It's as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be.

Take out drinking and my girlfriend and golf and I would spend well less than $600 per month.
But what would be the point in living in Pp as opposed to Australia,?
In PP I spend about $15 per day on golf and about $20 to $30 per day on food and drinks for myself. My rent and power are well below market.
Breakfast at home can be well under a dollar. A meal of Khmer food often costs me $2. Most of the time I choose to eat out at Western restaurants and spend about $10 per day on food. 10 beers cost $10.
My moto costs me about $3 per week for fuel and I do about 15 kms per day. If I was to take pass app tuk tuks I would spend over $8 per day on them.

I suspect it is true (although a rarity these days) but I shudder to think what his "paramour" looks like. If it is not some regular who he pays peanuts for then it must be a double bagger.
