i'd avoid them if i were you. unscheduled layover in Tokyo... and we're still here 2 hours later. tons of malfunctions with the ship equipment (seats, entertainment system, etc) and in general just uninformed staff all around.
next time i'll stick with asiana.

Wow, really? Singapore used to be the best. First plane I flew with the entertainment system. The stew uniforms. Sad if they're going downhill also. I still blame Air Asia.

I have never flown Singapore airlines, but know they have a good reputation, don't let one bad flight put you off! Flying from the UK to Manila last week with KLM, my original flight was cancelled (supposedly " Mechanical Failure") and I had an involuntary re-route via Hong Kong 15 hours later. Good laugh really, and I had two visits to the UK lounge, but it did nothing for my jet lag. @

Have flown with them 5 or 6 times... never had a bad experience... From ground crew to IFE always found them to give great service at only slightly more $$ than likes of Thai..
that said, the last time was in 2009.

it can happen on any airline. i just got off my first leg of two leg flight with etihad, which was excellent, except for the entertainment thing going down four times. the service and plane were spot on otherwise. ive flown with singapore 3 or 4 times, without a single flaw.

well i'll consider them again with all these upsells and yeah camry, the uniforms were spot on, and being on an isle seat where the attendants kepts shoving themselves in my face while closing the overheads... definate plus. but i was definately put off by the mechanical failures (the ended up having to switch planes entirely)... 40,000 feet and mechanical failures don't sit well with me.

Now that sounds like a fun trip all the way to Tokyo. Any pictures?

Great airline, Thai Air/ many others could learn from them.
Got bumped up to Business once, best flight of my life.
Mechanical failure forcing plane switch is better than Air China/Indo ignoring/denying it and having to scrape people off a mountain.
People who steal from banks get jail. Banks who steal from people get bonuses. You gotta love capitalism!

For work travel, due to company policy I more or less exclusively fly Singapore Airlines, and have noticed a small but obvious reduction in quality in the past two years. The hostesses are still cute,* but some have been getting a little crabby lately, even on the (very) odd occasion when I fly business class. The flights themselves have been getting delayed at an alarming rate, and there's recently been a habit of flying around in circles prior to landing at Changi airport, which drives me insane. I know this is more of an airport rather than an airline issue but it never seemed to happen before with Singapore Airlines.
*also, a lot of them like to date white guys and are pretty loose, so keep that in mind.

Even a long haul flight is only time for a short time date! @

I used to talk to the Korean flight attendants at the Phnom Penh hoTel. They put them up there every few days/weeks.
They were scared to venture out anywhere in the city. (Or they were just scared of me.)

I used to fly exclusively with SQ in Business but since they completely screwed up their website in 2010 (and it's still screwed up) I changed to anyone but SQ.
I do miss the SQ girls and was picked up twice by them on long haul flights. Just chatted up and they passed their number. For someone who used to travel 300+ days a year it was great to hook up with the occasional SQ girl outside SIN

I flew with Singapore Airline last year, wasnt impress with the entertainment systems and seat comparing to Emirate Airlines which I quite like out of all the airlines I flew on, and the stewardesses are mediocre, to my eyes anyway. My vote for cute and attractive looking stewardesses is Asiana hands down.
Everyone bow down and pay extreme homage to his Majesty flying chicken.
