Arched back stretching device available?
Arched back stretching device available?
I think maybe one of these type gadgets might be the answer to my back problems.
You lie on it and it arches your back upward which supposedly greatly relieves lower back problems and makes you feel young again.
Anyone seen a device like this for sale in Phnom Penh? Where?

this is all really complicated sounding stuff to make one of these, because i doubt they're locally available, but i bet someone could be found to do such a thing and it would likely do your back wonders (the one i used in the US definitely did for mine):

and i'm not really sure how this all works... but looks like it could give the same spinal inversion effect:

another option for what you're wanting to do, with the arch, would be one of those big exercise beach all thingies which may be easier to find:
(of note... never... EVER... do a google image search for "ball stretch")

Thanks. But I need something portable, that I can travel with. Is there a big ball like that that's inflatable, so you can put it in your luggage?
These arched things that you lie on seem really easy to use and you can just lie there, don't have to do any exercises. That appeals to me

those balls are fully inflatable/deflatable. they come in a little package deflated when you but them... sometimes even with a little hand pump.

I've seen these in a couple of shops in PP.OrangeDragon wrote:another option for what you're wanting to do, with the arch, would be one of those big exercise beach all thingies which may be easier to find:
I came, I argued, I'm out
But most inflatable things I've bought get punctures within a month. And it looks kind of uncomfortable lying on that ball and might be difficult to maintain that position for a long time. With the gadgets I posted, you can just lie there and watch TV, and you're very comfortable while your back is being healed.
These gadgets in the pictures I posted are from Amazon. Will Amazon ship to Cambodia? Would I be able to receive the package without paying a $100 bribe?

Seems like maybe you could get a hunk of foam rubber cut in that arched shape...but it might be too soft to do the job.
I think the best thing you can try is laying flat on the floor with your feet up on a chair so the arch (lower part of your back) is flat....

a rolled up towel (or towels) under the part that's bothering you may work as well.

LoL, actually, it's the flatness that I think they go after.OrangeDragon wrote:sleeping?cambod wrote:I think the best thing you can try is laying flat on the floor with your feet up on a chair so the arch (lower part of your back) is flat....

So nothing under any part of your back, just you spinal cord straight along the solid floor. That's why your legs need to be at a 90° angle at you hips, and your knees down resting on a chair.

I've been lying flat on my back when I sleep and it doesn't help. For years, I elevated my legs with two pillows under my knees while I slept. It felt good while I slept, but didn't help the problem during waking hours. I later read some opinions that this isn't good for you, because it's essentially the same as bending at the waist, which is what caused the problem to begin with, too much bending.
I'm pretty sure it's a disk problem I have. Arching your back upward counteracts the damage you do to your disks by bending forward all day. It makes sense to me.
And the reviews are great. http://www.amazon.com/North-American-He ... ewpoints=1
