-Preah Sihanouk Town.
-A homeless Russian man was found dead at 6:30 am, on the 2nd of July, 2013, in front of the shed housing the generator, under the eaves of the ‘Malibu 1’ Guesthouse.
The ‘Malibu 1’ Guesthouse (aka House of Angel, Angel House of Malibu), is located by the Pooy Ta Moong (ពយតាម៉ូង) tourism pier at Ocheuteul Beach, in Group 14, Village 4, Commune 4, Sihanouk Town.
-Police identified the victim as ‘SHIKHOV VADIM,’ who held in his possession a document certifying that he had lost his passport, which was set to expire on the 3rd July, 2013.
-Mr. Leng Chen, a 20 year old staff member responsible for receiving guests at the ‘Malibu 1’ Guesthouse related that it was part of his evening routine to lock up the gates at 10 pm each night, and that he had not been aware that the Russian, who was not a registered guest of the ‘Malibu 1,’ had broken into the periphery of the guesthouse. Mr Leng Chen surmised that the victim had breached the security fence of the guesthouse after midnight, after he had locked it up for the night.
-A witness at the scene stated that he had spotted the victim earlier that evening sleeping in front of the Dolphin Restaurant, located about 150 meters away from where he was later found dead. He had also witnessed someone handing the victim some food.
-Dr. សែជូ សិទ្ធិជោតិ, the deputy director and coroner for the Sihanouk Provincial Health Department described the body of the victim as skin and bones, and still pliant. He concluded that the victim had died at about 4:00 am that morning after succumbing to a terminal illness.

Can we count this as an overstay? You need to have six months validity remaining on your passport to enter the country, so if his passport was set to expire on July 3, he must have entered before January 3 and then "lost" his passport. This is the second Sihanoukville expat in a week to not have a passport available. I wonder what's going on down there.

It's interesting though that his passport was set to expire on July 3, and he expired on July 2. That's pretty good timing.

I would normally never question the conclusions or methodology of a Cambodian coroner, but just because the deceased Russian was really thin doesn't mean he died from a terminal illness. I would suggest that most people who die of terminal illnesses are not found outside after breaking through security fences of guesthouses after midnight. This sounds more like a "heart attack" to me.

The wound on that guy's foot looks like Karposi's sarcoma, so AIDS is a distinct possibility...
