New Poker Room @ Queenco in Sihanoukville
I saw an ad in the paper today advertising the opening of a new poker room @ Queenco Casino... I thought I might skip town to avoid the riots and check it out. Do any of our 440 friends @ the beach have any info about this? Casper?
thanks a lot

No info for ya, but as an aside, I saw a flyer on the message board outside Samadura w/the headline - "Exchange $200 for Chips & Receive a Free Room". I guess the name was covered over by another flyer. I looked at it for a minute and couldn't figure out which casino it is. Seems like a good deal unless the place is a dump.
NO! what are the chances of that in SNV?wackyjacky wrote:unless the place is a dump.
Checked it out today Saturday, met the manager and it had a soft opening on Christmas Eve they play Omaha,Holden cash ATM the moment. stakes 1dollar 2 dollar and 2 /5 depending what the punters want.
IMO it is the best appointed poker room I have seen on my travels 4tables good seats and free massage if you want. They aim to have tourneys later on but no date yet.
I have just read this back, this is my opinion I don't work there.

Isnt that the Rebels new set up?
Queenco for christmas lunch buffet was disappointing, no service and santa never turned up. Hopefull the new manager can whip them into line.

Really nice place, not a Rebel in sight. New guy running the Room is an ex/current Pro Player (wish I could remember his name) and he's set things up very nicely.
New guy in charge of F&B is doing a great job with the new bar and restaurant.
I would avoid the place tonight though, OD is arranging the Firework Display ......

Other places are pretty quiet now, Fortuna, Golden 'C', the players are at Queenco.

And that room is very nice, very comfy. It's the sort of poker room make to keep people there 3 days nonstop without noticing it's happened.

Dubai just beat the world record with 400,000 fireworks in 6 minutes.
Now you have a goal for next year, OD...

Honestly could be a good thing for tourism here if Cambodia pulled off something like that.
Planning that should would take the better part of the year though working full time with a 10-20 man crew... and sadly it would likely fail as people would steal shit from the build sites the moment they were finished.
My honest opinion of it was that the scale was beyond impressive... but the show itself was lacking. It was all volume and no style (with one notable exception being the letters in the beginning). Vegas does a number of shows like that as well, and I feel the same about them. Disney doesn't put up near the volume of the Vegas shows, but they have a ton more style in what they do put up. Volume isn't everything.

Great room & game... Went down and played over the weekend and it is by far the BEST room in SE Asia! 4 very nice tables w/ great chairs. LCDs @ each table and the bar as well as a large projector so we were able to watch all the Soccer/UFC/College Football we wanted and they have a guy from the sportsbook coming by frequently so you can request odds&spreads and lay bets at anytime. It is being managed by a great guy named Steve who is certainly going out of his way to make sure everyone has a great experience. Location is a little out of the way for most tourists but the casino has several shuttle buses w/ 24hr free pick up/drop off which is really nice if you are heading home late...
The dealers are incredibly efficient and probably get out 40% more hands per hour than the muppets at Nagaworld... The entire hotel menu and a full bar is totally comped for all players (including the Marco Polo pizza). They had 2 full $1-$2 NLHE tables each night with one of the tables playing till around 6am each morning. The dealers can also spread Omaha if there is enough interest (they had $1-$3 PLO a few nights prior to my arrival). The game was a mixture of about half Sihanoukville local players and half PP players & tourists. They advertise games starting early afternoon but seemed to start around 7 or 8pm. I'm sure they would start whenever they have enough players. Casper was correct, it seems that most of the local players @ those stakes are heading to queenco. For lower stakes cash games and $10/$20 tourneys, Charlie Harper's is still definitely the place to go!
We got back to PP on Tuesday and I'll be heading back this extended "Makara 7" weekend. Sorry for the poor quality pictures but they give the basic idea...

I didn't think that the location was "out of the way".
In fact, it is great because it is right "on the way".
If you have people coming down from PP, you can tell
them to stay straight on the road and the hotel is on the right.
The directions to any other hotel are going to take a lot more
work and people will still get lost.
And they have their own beach for those so inclined. I like
beaches, and I like how they keep it clean.
