Tavelling in Phnom Penh with little kids
Tavelling in Phnom Penh with little kids
We are going to be in Pnom Penh with two little kids 5 and 7 y.o., so they walking capability is limited. What would you advise for visiting/sightseeng?
The busy streets are barely passable for adult pedestrians. You need a car, or at least taxis/tuk-tuks, to get around with kids, though all the sights themselves are of course pedestrian friendly.

Watch out for Italian women with cameras.
A boat trip on the Mekong might be good for kids.

Most 440rs have the walking capacity of five year old kids too. Those bellies take their toll.
They'll be fine and when they aren't, tuktuks are fine.
Take them to Kids City on Sihanouk.

It's $8 for children for any of the various activities at weekends, but only $5 during the week if they can provide a valid school ID. It's a pit pricey but the facilities are very good.Barang_doa_slae wrote:I heard it can get outrageously expensive ?scobienz wrote:Most 440rs have the walking capacity of five year old kids too. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
maybe koh pich? shoot some balloons? ride the little amusement park rides. no admission fee
Plonk them down in front of a games computer and that will give you lots of free time to sit in a bar drinking beer. But if your an Australian you would not need that advise. You would already know.
There are several kid friendly places you can take them swimming. One easy activity is to take them in front of the Royal Palace. They can feed the birds and run around.........and then you can walk half a block to Dairy Queen for an ice cream, or take a leisurely evening walk down the riverside. Also, most of the parks around town are equipped with nice playgrounds for the kiddos.

Tell them that this is where you will send them to live if they do not sit quietly at their games console for six hours straight while Daddy is at the pub.ricecakes wrote:Take them to an orphanage. It's all the rage.

Loved orphanage advice haha)) We are not that type of people that go drinking and leave their kids alone...
Thank you people for Kids city and Mekong river advice: these are some serious helping advices. Where are those Mekong river boats are departing from?
One more question - what location/guesthouses you'd advice to stay, I mean area of the city not far from the center and with convenient transprt links.

I know a guy with a daughter about that age, I think he takes her to Ly La Water Park about three times a week.
