Part 24 of a 24 part series. Each part approx. 30 mins long.
That's it, end of the series. I hope the one person that watched them with me found them interesting and was able to apply some of the knowledge to the debates over the last 6 months or so. I know I did.
AFAIK they will be up for future visitors and I hope some more people manage to get over the obviously annoying look and sound of the professor so as to get at the extremely interesting message he puts across in this lecture series.

Interesting I'm looking forward to the others. I presume they're not old videos so you can't post them all up at once. It's just his clothing seems to be stuck in the 90's but I guess that's partly cause he's a professor!

He talks too much, his voice is quite monotonous and my attention span is awfully tiny. Is this worth bookmarking it and watching the 30 minutes of it later, vlad, Tigger?
Oh no! I build model boats & i started posting on K440, thank f#%k I'm unreliable.
Looking forward to hearing what happens to Arthur & I'd say there where quite a few chuck's on this forum
Bonobos & dolphins have recreational sex, he started to category bucket as well, I certainly don't talk about sex after sex, just roll over & go to sleep,
Why give them the chance to complain

It's definitely worth watching but it is long. He basically explains that there's is no short cut to understanding why living creatures including humans behave a certain way. He comprehensively lists the different factors that contribute to behaviour stating he is going to cover them in more detail as we go through the lectures (24 in total). He even offers quotes of people who have given emphasis to individual factors over the collective to show how shortsighted and dangerous this can be.Joon wrote:He talks too much, his voice is quite monotonous and my attention span is awfully tiny. There's a part where he explains through the colours of the rainbow the results in breaking down broad information into smaller categories for greater clarity. It was this part that was the most interesting and relevant for this Forum or for a more insightful understanding of the difference between the western and asian behaviours. We sometime just have different borders for the same thing. It was an intelligent insight that shows how we might have diffrent interpretations but ultimately we're one and the same.
The big mystery for me though was why he would under any circumstance or interpretation wear them cloths and sport that hair cut!

He he he, you jest surely? Don't worry if you can't get into it now. There are another 23 parts! I will leave all the links up and add them to the first page so one can browse them when they have the time/ inclination.Joon wrote:He talks too much, his voice is quite monotonous and my attention span is awfully tiny. I find it fascinating and wanted to share. Also its a bit of an experiment to see how forums work and what can be achieved.
I hope at some point in the next 6 months you will find time to view it.
Once again a thread ;the political debate about the elections and future predictions, is what reminded me about a seed of an idea I've had for a while.

I was half-jesting, SCC
With the mine of information that the Internet is and the scarcity of time, one has to prioritize what will monopolize both attention and time. So I like it when something is engaging and concise and I have a fair idea that my time will not be totally wasted.
But you and Tigger convinced me that I would most probably find it interesting and educational, so will watch it (and the other videos) when in good conditions.

Any reason why this isn't in the NOT CAMBODIA section?
I came, I argued, I'm out
I think for greater exposure and because it seems it could be applied to explain this forum's dynamics. I personally don't mind it being in this section.
Andy, I feel that it is relevant to Cambodia and that it would be an interesting experiment to apply the thoughts that arise from watching it to a Cambodian perspective. Rather than the usual western one where we nearly all learn about this stuff.andyinasia wrote:Any reason why this isn't in the NOT CAMBODIA section?
I think KIR might concur? He mentioned doing his masters at the moment.

I hate to be a grammar nazi, but...SCC wrote:...He mentioned doing his masters at the moment.
You should really write "doing his master's".
Doing your masters, frankly speaking, is gay.
Doing your mistress or mistresses is better. Fraught with danger, but it seems to be the national pastime in this country.
