Looking to buy a Vespa
Looking to buy a Vespa
I have decided its time to get me a scooter for getting around town. The problem is I think all the japanese ones have absolutely no charm at all. I know the Vespas are priced much higher, but they are just in a different league when it comes to design. So .... if anybody knows of a Vespa for sale at a reasonable price let me know. Even though the older ones look nicer I will probably go for one of the never ones with a compartment under the saddle and a never engine.
buy a oldie, and as you go home put the vespa on a ship to your hometown.
in the netherlands are the prices of old vespa very very very high

Read up about Vietnamese bodge vespas before you buy they look great but some are total crap.
I have been riding my 1997 Vespa T5 for the last 4 years and I love it. The T5 is the hot rod of vespas it's much zippier, being 150cc 2 stroke, than what the locals drive. Has an all steal body I've been hit twice and the freshie boys, who didn't stop of coarse, left lots of plastic bits behind I had no damage. Khmers don't want to steal them and are completely baffled by the manual hand shift tranny and there are not that many around, I have the only T5 in the country, so would not be too hard to refind it. I also don't make mine pretty keep it multi colored for more protection and I like driving a sleeper.
Some of the guys from the vespa club are around and a great help and there were some for sale the last time I looked and the web site PM me for contact details.
My daughter is about to start school and I am looking for and older Thai style tuk tuk or possibly a three wheeler to take her to school so will be selling mine at some point. Just so you can compare I would want $1000. for mine.
I don't care for the new style vespas, I think the engine/transmission is too low and unprotected for the pot holes and rough roads.

Yes those old Vespas are beauties. But as I say I would probably go with an automatic with storage room under the saddle. It mostly has to be practical.
On another note. If I find a Vespa I like, where can I bring it to have a quick check up before I actually buy it.

The older ones have a glove box, helmet hooks to lock them and hooks for shopping bags. The seat storage is not secure easily popped open.
I'm not sure but I think the auto trans is only on the smaller vespas.
Contact the Vespa club for someone to check it out for you.

I am looking into alternatives for a Vespa also, if I should not succeed in finding a proper deal. I am beginning to think that if I buy a Vespa it will probably be from the showroom down on Monivong.
Anyway for alternatives the "most decent" model I have found so far is the Yamaha Nozza. Has anybody heard of this scooter before? Its not that widespread here in Cambodia and there is not much info when you google it. I think the production is limited to Vietnam.

There are a lot of Chinese scooters that look a lot like Vespas, some of them electric. They put them through hell over here. I'm sure they have them in PP.
Just gotten back from a trip to Bangkok.
At one of the malls Vespa are showcasing their Thailand line up of bikes and they've got a new "2015 Vespa Sprint" it's IMHO the best looking modern vespa I've seen.
I was planning on buying a Vespa S 150 cc this month or next. However now I've seen the Sprint I may wait until after the rainy season to see if Vespa cambodia will stock it.
Here's a review of the Sprint http://touch.cycleworld.com/all/117587? ... 6859197618
