I'm gettin abit tired of humping those 20l water bottles across the road and up the stairs every few days.
I believe that all you need to purify water is to condense it so does anybody know where i can either buy the real deal water purifiers, or just make one by sticking a tube up one of those boiling water dispensers and collecting the water?
Obviously health is the priority.
Cheers.

I've been using the seoul filters, sold in local markets for 6 years now, no problems. Replace the filters once a year.

The filter we use has a silver impregnated ceramic filter up top and a five stage filter after that including activated charcoal and 4 others that I don't remember without the box. Then has a container of mineral rocks that that sits in the tank. About $20 bucks each at most local markets.
With the RO systems you will have distilled water not drinking water.

Thanks for that people.
oxbow,
Looks good.Is that only $20 bucks for the whole unit in the photo, or just the filters?
I thought distilled (as in condensed) was about as clean as you can get for drinking water as it leaves ALL solid material behind?? Just looking for the cleanest option.

yes for the whole unit may be a little more $24 I think was the actual price. Boiling and condensing the steam give you pure water but the minerals (e.g., calcium, magnesium, iron) are also left behind.
These filters also remove the minerals but they are replaced with a container full mineral rocks.
The local khmer market here in ta khmao has them and I think the other markets do too.

If you are in greater Phnom Penh, why are you doing this?spitthedog wrote:I'm gettin abit tired of humping those 20l water bottles across the road and up the stairs every few days.
Drink from the tap.
There are $12 clay filters, use them.

I live in Snooky. Not sure how clean the water is here.vladimir wrote:If you are in greater Phnom Penh, why are you doing this?spitthedog wrote:I'm gettin abit tired of humping those 20l water bottles across the road and up the stairs every few days.

Drink from the tap - no. OK for cleaning teeth, but I wouldn't want to knock back a litre or two after a bike-ride. I know that the water here is good, but that's at source... before it travels / stands in knackered pipes under these streets.vladimir wrote:If you are in greater Phnom Penh, why are you doing this?spitthedog wrote:I'm gettin abit tired of humping those 20l water bottles across the road and up the stairs every few days.

Clay filters can give the water a strong taste - used a Rabbit filter for a while, slow and tasty.
spitthedog, if you buy 6 or more of the 20L bottles - In PP, the water company will deliver to your house for you and also do the carrying. Worth an ask?
