Go down to SIhanoukville by the Sea and experience the Cambodian Riviera.
Sun, Beaches, Cheap Beer. Good food, plenty of Company.
Lots of places have pools and nice cocktails to drink as you lounge around being waited on.
Just an $8/5hr bus ride away.
Paradise awaits.

Note to self: Must be nice to morons.

Paradise is a bit of a stretch of imagination.

I wouldn't mind being in Sihanoukville today but a 5 hour bus ride is the type of thing I have nightmares about. I suppose I could fly there in an hour but...I dunno, I just haven't done any planning. Next year I'll make plans to leave in advance.LaudJohn wrote:Go down to SIhanoukville by the Sea and experience the Cambodian Riviera.

No reason to follow the crowds. Glad they're gone. Bit of a respite. I love Phnom Penh when it is quiet like this. Great time for walking the city, for photography at the pagodas, for lounging on the on the roof over a long leisurely smoke, listening to the monks chant, the smell of incense in the air, the lack of traffic noise.

Oh, and last night, I had to suffer the indignity of dinner at Sharky's due to a lack of enthusiasm for looking for options outside of my area. I ate a quesadilla that smelled like dirty socks and gawked at the patrons, all of whom appeared to be over 60. The unbearable live music was what finally pushed me out the door.

How can these damn Khmer afford to stop working? I thought they're supposed to be poor?
Dude...are you blind? There are many many options open around Sharky's right this very minute - do you know where the riverfront area is?MONEYBACKGUARANTEE wrote:Oh, and last night, I had to suffer the indignity of dinner at Sharky's due to a lack of enthusiasm for looking for options outside of my area. Ok ok, I guess I can go to Paddy Rice and eat a $7 burger while tuk tuk drivers stare at me, children try to sell me braclets, and wheelchair bound dwarfs beg for money. I guess. But I was really over the Riverfront by the end of my first week in PP. Maybe that Indian place by Independence Monument is open...Dosa Corner, I think it's called. Probably not, since they employ Khmers. Whatever.Dagenham wrote:Dude...are you blind? Paddy Rice sucks.
I once worked with an Irishman who loved the place.
Long waits, cold food, high prices.
I don't know how it survives.
