Snake ID from shed skin?
Anyone have a guess as to what kind of snake might have shed this? I found it around the roof overhang near my main door this morning.
Cheers

I'd guess it is probably about 3 feet long, but I'm not sure how much of the skin is still where I can't see it.
This is the best shot I've got of the skin... It's a big image so I will just post the link - http://i.imgur.com/YI6W87p.jpg

I'm guessing a rat snake or tree snake, purely from the location of the shed skin.
The head is the key, but I think we can safely say not from a large viper species, too slim.

That looks like a freakishly large snake. But then it's difficult to get an idea without something in the picture as comparison.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
What's that? I only see skin on a red surface.Lucky Lucan wrote:There's a ginja for comparison.Joon wrote:That looks like a freakishly large snake. But then it's difficult to get an idea without something in the picture as comparison.

Edit: never mind! I just saw the first picture. Didn't load for me the first time.
Whats a Ginja? A person with red hair? Chin chot is the little fellow in the pic.

I don't think there's too many dangerous snakes in Cambodia but then I really have no idea.

Indeed, you have no idea.WatchTheGrass wrote:I don't think there's too many dangerous snakes in Cambodia but then I really have no idea.
Russell's vipers, about 8 species of cobra, kraits, coral snakes, pit vipers, the list goes on.

Walk carefully, especially in rubber plantations. Russell's viper, Malayan pit viper, evil bastards. Pit vipers hiding in banana clumps, blah blah blah
