For maybe the past week, there's been a huge increase in mozzies around my place - coils leave dozens dead inside the house within a few hours, floor-standing fans catch and kill dozens overnight in the bedroom, and my dogs are getting bitten to fk overnight both in and out of the house - despite having fans on full speed.
Which brings me to - stains all over the tiled floors where the dogs have been. Mozzies seem to get their fill and then drop to the floor, where the dogs eventually stand on a good number leaving the floor looking like a toy-soldier battleground covered in crusty smears of blood. I thought at first that one of the dogs had lost a claw or ripped an ear or somesuch as they're always wrestling - but it's continued for a week, and on closer inspection - it's the mosquitos. In the morning, mozzies that weren't stepped on overnight wobble around on the ground like they're pissed-up drunk and are easy to dispatch.
Wierd.
Is it possible that the Frontline I use to keep fleas and ticks off the dogs is affecting the mosquitos?
If that's the case, you could give every farm animal and pet in the country a dose of Frontline and hammer the total mosquito population down inside a fortnight.
Mosquito numbers and Frontline?

the topical versoin is applied to the neck, but supposed to distribute over the skinin the whole system..
its interesting, that the mozzies die then...
we should drink citronella then ?
at least your getting bitten only once...

Last applied it as neck drops between the shoulders while they were eating (from a pump-spray bottle) on first of Dec 2014.
Had no real mozzie numbers until this past week, so haven't noticed before.
Not citronella - Frontline, but yes - best guess is one feed from the dogs and the mozzies are toast.
