First Female Deathpat of 2015
A Chinese woman. I can't make out the name from the passport . Jean Feng something?
42 years old
It looks like the passport was issued in Cuba.
She worked in a factory.
Cause of death unknown.

She was working at a jeans making factory in Por Senchey district. It doesn't tell what level of employment she was working, but it sounds like she was a manual worker as she was brought to a private clinic (Shanghai clinic) by her friends and fellow workers. But she apparently died upon arriving there and she was then brought to Calmette hospital.
Poor woman. RIP.
Poor woman. RIP.

And of course all with work permits for being qualified.vladimir wrote:If she was brought by co-workers, most likely lower level worker.

Thousands of low-level Chinese doing manual labour...? Where are they?! There are a lot of Chinese working around Pochentong (special economic zones), as well as towards Kompong Chnang and Kampot, but I've never seen one actually sowing or doing manual labour. They usually work in management, accounting, quality control and so on.
^ Yus, I'm interested in knowing how many ethnic Chinese work here and where they work. I know clothing factories iz all.

Plenty of Chinese building the roads in the North and I am pretty sure that some of the workers are Chinese. Even the road signs are in Chinese.....

The Japanese guy jumped to his death from a guest house near GSM. He should qualify as a honorary deathpat for that effort.gavinmac wrote:Asians don't count as expat deaths. You guys know the rules

Roads? The Chinese there are usually foremen. I haven't seen one even operating a bulldozer. Also plenty of them around Koh Kong building the dams, but they're not exactly what I'd call unskilled manual laborers.Hanno wrote:Plenty of Chinese building the roads in the North and I am pretty sure that some of the workers are Chinese. Chinese imported an entire workforce, holus bolus, from China into Laos to build their roads there. Did a bloody good job of it, and all. Don't see why they'd do any different in Cambodia...

Maybe because Cambodia doesn't have a border with China? The Chinese here are more likely to be in management positions.Falcon Randwick wrote:Chinese imported an entire workforce, holus bolus, from China into Laos to build their roads there.
